According to Tang Xiao’s idea, if there are too many products under each leaf category in the product pool, it would inevitably cause users to suffer from “choice paralysis” while browsing. Ultimately, this would most likely lead them to give up on purchasing after lengthy deliberation.

However, if only a few products are available for selection under each leaf category, users can quickly compare and make a choice. This would, to some extent, promote sales conversion.

“That’s a good idea,” Gu Yao nodded in approval. “But how do you plan to implement it? Are you thinking of imposing restrictions when defining the product pool, or setting thresholds during the recommendation phase?”

“Either way works. I just haven’t figured out the details yet, so I wanted to get your opinion!” Tang Xiao promptly tossed the question back to Gu Yao.

The two exchanged a glance, grabbed their laptops, and headed straight for Liu Enming’s office. But to their surprise, it was empty. After asking his assistant, they learned he had been called away by senior management for a meeting. As for when he would return? No one on their level had a clue.

Gu Yao, being straightforward, directly messaged Enming privately to ask when he would be done.

Once they got a clear answer, the two settled down on the guest sofa in his office, casually chatting as they waited.

After about ten minutes, they saw Enming stride briskly back toward his office.

“I heard you two wanted to see me? Have you resolved the A/B testing issue?”

Faced with his question, they exchanged another look, and Tang Xiao opened her laptop to present the report. As she showed it, she explained the reasons behind the problem and proposed solutions.

Liu Enming pointed out a few flaws in Tang Xiao’s plan. Relying on years of work experience, Tang Xiao and Gu Yao immediately refined the proposal without missing a beat.

When the big boss finally stopped playing “gotcha,” Gu Yao brought up Tang Xiao’s earlier suggestion. Enming considered it and thought it was worth trying, then waved his hand decisively:

“Go talk to the colleagues in the Traffic and Personalization teams. See what’s convenient for you. But I don’t recommend shrinking the size of the product pool.”

Leaving Liu Enming’s office, Tang Xiao glanced at the time and asked, “Shall we go find them now?”

Gu Yao checked her watch; it was half-past four in the afternoon. After a moment’s thought, she nodded.

“Alright, let’s touch base with them first. No matter how fast we want to iterate, any new plan will have to wait until tomorrow.”

While Tang Xiao and Gu Yao ran back and forth between the seventh and eighth floors, the rest of the product operations team was already winding down their day’s work.

“We’re leaving early at five-thirty today. Once you finish what you’re working on, feel free to relax,” Chen Xujia glanced at the clock on his computer. “Pre-sales start at ten tomorrow morning. Just be back before nine-thirty at night. If anyone’s worried about staying awake late, you can come grab a coffee from me… Old Wang’s treating!”

Hearing that there was free coffee to be had, the team immediately perked up and lined up to place their orders.

When it was Lin Luyou’s turn, she pointed to the unfinished milk tea in her hand and said, “I’ll pass… Xiao Xiao already treated us to afternoon tea.”

“Ah, that’s on you. This is the boss treating us—it’s different,” came the teasing reply.
