Chapter 078: A New Perspective
Lin Luoyou recalled the information she had gathered from the elderly earlier that morning. She felt that when evaluating products, one shouldn’t only select those suitable for middle-aged and older people; sometimes, it was necessary to do the opposite. The older generation was thrifty when it came to themselves, but far more generous toward their children and grandchildren. Perhaps they would rarely buy things for themselves, but they were always thinking about what their children might still need.
As soon as Lin Luoyou finished speaking, she glanced sideways and saw Tang Xiao writing the words “Self or Children” in large characters in her notebook. For a few seconds, the air was heavy with silence; both Lin Luoyou and Cheng Li fixed their eyes on Tang Xiao, just like students waiting for their homeroom teacher to announce their final exam scores.
After a moment, Tang Xiao put down her pen and said, “The dimensions you both mentioned just now are quite good. Cheng Li, your suggestions are more comprehensive… but Luoyou’s perspective is also excellent.” As she spoke, she asked both of them to send her their respective proposals. Thus, the three of them remained in the meeting room, further refining the selection of products for the pool.
In truth, Tang Xiao did most of the refining herself, while Cheng Li and Lin Luoyou sat awkwardly in silence, exchanging helpless glances.
How awkward… Lin Luoyou thought to herself.
She desperately wanted something to do, so she lowered her head again, looking at her computer, wondering if she could find another breakthrough. But even Tang Xiao, with two years of experience, hadn’t come up with any new ideas—how could she, a newcomer just one week into the job, possibly suggest anything more constructive?
When Tang Xiao finally finished, she turned her attention to the two beside her. “Oh, you two can head back now. If the users agree to these rules, we’ll start building the product pool tomorrow and begin monitoring the data daily.”
“Oh, right, Cheng Li!” Tang Xiao stopped Cheng Li, who was about to leave. “Could you go fetch Gu Yao for me? You met her this morning.”
**
Lin Luoyou spent the remainder of her workday browsing internal forum posts. As soon as it was time to leave, she grabbed her meal card, ready to head downstairs. Just then, Old Wang—who scarcely appeared more than a few times a year—suddenly showed up.
“Who’s handling the project that interfaces with user operations?” he asked.
Tang Xiao hadn’t returned yet, so Cheng Li answered first. “Tang Xiao’s in charge of that; I’m working with her too.” As she spoke, she gestured toward Lin Luoyou.
Following her gesture, Old Wang’s gaze landed on Lin Luoyou, who quickly drew back her foot, which she’d just moved toward the door, and nodded in greeting.
“So, where’s Tang Xiao?”
“Why, what do you need? I’m right here!” Coincidentally, just as Old Wang finished speaking, Tang Xiao’s clear voice rang out from behind him.
“Well, what is it? Spit it out!” she said.
After a few days of observation, Lin Luoyou realized that there was little sense of hierarchy among the staff at Maxley. Regardless of their positions, everyone addressed each other by name or nickname. Conversations were always straightforward, without any unnecessary formality or pretense.
“How’s that senior-friendly product pool coming along?”
“The request only came in today! How fast do you expect? We’re working on it, just went over everything with Gu Yao!” Although their progress was hardly slow, Tang Xiao still complained a bit, half in jest.
