Lin Luoyou had no idea how many future plans were already swirling in Qin Shishen’s mind. She only knew that if she didn't leave now, she would be the center of everyone's attention the moment she returned to the office.

With this thought in mind, she quickly packed her things. "It's almost nine-thirty; I really have to get back. I'm sorry for taking up so much of your time and keeping you from heading home..."

Qin Shishen looked up and gave a slight shake of his head. "It’s fine. It makes no difference to me where I am."

Because wherever he was, he was alone; wherever he was, he was surrounded by darkness. It was better to sit quietly by her side and watch her.

Lin Luoyou did not grasp the subtext Qin Shishen left unspoken. She simply took two more candies and waved at him. "I'm off then. Take care of yourself tonight!"

"The streetlights outside aren't working. Let me walk you," Qin Shishen said, glancing at the road outside and frowning. He still remembered how, the last two times, Lin Luoyou had sung to herself to build up courage while clutching her arms and inching forward.

"Then... thank you."

A flicker of excitement stirred in Lin Luoyou’s heart, an uncontrollable joy seeping into her voice. She rearranged her backpack, trying her best to hide it.

Yet, even she did not know what she was so happy about. Was it because someone was accompanying her through the dark, or was it specifically because that someone was him?

Qin Shishen took a high-powered flashlight and walked with her toward the Max building. The journey was exceptionally quiet, save for the sound of their shoes clicking against the gravel path.

"Honestly, there’s no need to be this stingy with the electricity," Lin Luoyou muttered softly, pulling her jacket tighter as the late October night air carried a chill.

Still, walking through the night alone felt entirely different from walking with someone else. With a reliable person by her side, her heart felt at peace.

When the Max building came into view, they both stopped in unison.

"Well, I'm here. Thank you." Lin Luoyou found her hands unconsciously twisting the straps of her backpack again.

"Mhm," Qin Shishen replied softly. "It’s autumn now, and the nights are cold. If you have to work this late again, remember to bring a thicker coat."

"Mhm, I know! Honestly, you sound just like my brother." Lin Luoyou laughed, waved at Qin Shishen, and headed toward the building. "I'm going in now. You should head home and call it a night too! Goodnight!"

*Goodnight.*

Qin Shishen watched her retreating figure, whispering the words silently in his heart.

Stepping into the building, she was greeted by a brightness that contrasted sharply with the outside. For a moment, the light was so intense that Lin Luoyou could barely keep her eyes open.

When she returned to the seventh floor and neared her cubicle, she could already hear He Suzhen and Su Zhenxin engaged in their daily bickering. As she approached, she discovered that they were huddled together playing a mobile game. Not only were her own teammates there, but Cai Yuyao and Cheng Yu had joined in as well.

"Youyou’s back! Come, come, join the game!"

Yang Tianqi had just accidentally exposed herself due to a shaky hand and was promptly knocked out. She was currently calling on her teammates to avenge her.

Lin Luoyou leaned in to take a look and shook her head hurriedly. "No, no, I’ll just watch from the sidelines."

Though she always prided herself on being sharp and a fast learner, none of those skills translated to gaming. Whether it was PC games or mobile games, she knew she was only suited for simulation or raising-style games. As for competitive ones like this... she reckoned she could die a hundred times over and still have no idea how it happened.
