Chapter 075: The Childish Grandparents
After listening to Tang Xiao’s introduction, Lin Luyou became even more certain that her impulsive decision to raise her hand earlier was the right one. She believed that joining this project team would undoubtedly allow her to learn a great deal, and it would mark her first official step into the world of operations.
Lin Luyou first carefully reviewed the PPT again, meticulously writing the words “Product Goal” and “Target Audience” in black ink in her notebook, underlining them twice as a reminder.
Knowing that this product pool was aimed at middle-aged and elderly users, Lin Luyou couldn’t help but think of her own trendy grandmother.
She realized that instead of sitting here trying to figure out what they considered when shopping, it would be better to ask directly.
Determined to act, Lin Luyou picked up her phone and walked to the break room, choosing a sofa in a corner to sit down. It was ten in the morning, and based on her understanding of her grandmother, she was either sitting on the sofa watching TV dramas or on her phone, also watching dramas.
The call connected quickly, and Lin Luyou greeted sweetly, “Grandma! It’s me, Luyou! Oh, Grandpa? No, no, I swear, I miss you too! I miss you the most!”
Hearing that it was her grandfather who answered, Lin Luyou was a little surprised. Usually, her grandmother monopolized the sofa and banished her grandfather to the study, so she hadn’t even thought before dialing the landline.
These two elders, the older they got, the more like children they became—especially when it came to vying for affection.
It took Lin Luyou quite some time to finally convince her grandfather that, in his granddaughter’s heart, he held a more important place.
Once he was placated, Lin Luyou cautiously asked, “Grandpa, where’s Grandma? Isn’t she home?”
“Hmph! Don’t mention her to me!” Lin Guofu’s tone immediately turned grumpy, and he complained to his granddaughter about how unreasonable his wife was.
Lin Luyou almost couldn’t stop herself from laughing. It turned out that Grandpa was always annoyed when Grandma watched dramas while he was reading, especially when she’d start giggling, which spoiled his mood. After a few words of bickering, she stopped laughing, stopped disturbing his reading, and instead went downstairs to dance in the square with the other old men.
“Oh dear, how could Grandma do that! Yes, she really shouldn’t have… That’s right, I think so too.” Lin Luyou followed his lead, struggling to suppress her laughter. “Alright, Grandpa, I’ll talk to Grandma for you. It’s not good to sulk all the time. Even if she wants to dance, shouldn’t she be dancing with you?”
After hanging up, Lin Luyou rubbed her cheeks, which were sore from smiling, before dialing her grandmother Sun Guifang’s mobile number. The phone rang for quite a while before her grandmother finally picked up.
“Hello, darling!” As soon as the call connected, Lin Luyou heard her grandmother’s robust voice, along with the background music from the square dance.
“Grandma! Are you out dancing in the square?”
“Your grandfather already complained to you, didn’t he?” After so many years together, Sun Guifang guessed instantly. “So, darling, what did that old man say? And whose side are you on?”
“Of course I’m on your side!” Lin Luyou felt like a blade of grass swaying with the wind, leaning whichever way the breeze blew. “Grandpa’s just jealous! He can’t stand you dancing outside without him.”
“Jealousy is good—it’s disinfectant! I’ve already thought about what to cook for lunch today: shredded potatoes in vinegar, lemon chicken, and for dinner, sauerkraut with pork!”
“Grandma, with so many sour dishes, can your teeth handle it?” Lin Luyou was already laughing so hard she nearly forgot why she’d called.
