Chapter 21: He Actually Remembered the Date of Her Period (3)
Leng Mohan shifted closer to her side, his voice gentle and soft as he asked, “Do you know how to make red date and lotus seed porridge?”
“Ah?” Ye Ye was momentarily caught off guard by the sudden question. Usually, at a moment like this, the male lead would be leaning in to kiss the female lead with tender affection.
“Yanyan started her period today. I heard drinking red date and lotus seed porridge helps. Since you’re a nutritionist, you must know how to make it, right?” Leng Mohan said, putting down the remote control and standing up without even glancing at Ye Ye, then headed straight upstairs.
Ye Ye stood downstairs, her red lips parting several times, yet no words came out. She had originally wanted to call Aunt Zhang to prepare it, but then remembered that Aunt Zhang had said her son was coming home today and she wanted to go back to see him. Since no one was home at that time, Ye Ye had let Aunt Zhang leave early to have more alone time with Leng Mohan.
She stomped her foot in frustration and walked angrily toward the kitchen.
Leng Mohan went upstairs and entered the bedroom. He saw the bathroom door wide open but Lin Yan was not inside. Peering around the carved screen, he found her frowning as she studied a calendar.
On the calendar, the 5th, or the 6th, or the 7th and 8th of each month were all marked in red pen.
She couldn’t understand it at all. Although she had been married to Leng Mohan for two years, they rarely spent time together and hardly ever shared a bed. The only exception was when her mother came over; they would symbolically sleep in the same bed but kept a distance of several feet.
Except for this one time...
How could he possibly remember the exact days of her menstrual cycle every month? Good heavens, it was so embarrassing.
“Are you going to take a bath?” Leng Mohan glanced back at the tub filled with hot water and asked.
Lin Yan jumped in surprise and hurriedly placed the calendar back on an empty shelf. “Oh, I was about to,” she replied.
Pouting slightly, she muttered softly, “Looking like this, can’t I skip washing?”
Lin Yan passed by him, heading toward the bathroom, but Leng Mohan suddenly grasped her wrist. Startled, she turned to look at him. “What are you doing?”
Leng Mohan stared at her for a long moment before saying, “You should shower.”
“Ah?” Lin Yan was completely bewildered. What was he talking about?
“You’ve been taking baths recently. Sitting baths aren’t good for your health.”
After speaking, he released her wrist and hurried into the bathroom, a faint flush coloring his face.
Lin Yan stood there, stunned, only slowly realizing that she was indeed on her period and that sitting baths were not good for her body. But... how did he know that?
Good heavens, Lin Yan felt utterly ashamed to face Leng Mohan again.
Leng Mohan drained the bathtub and adjusted the water temperature under the purple lighting to a comfortable warmth—not too hot, not too cold. When he came out, his expression had returned to normal. “The water’s ready. Go wash.”
Lin Yan twitched the corner of her mouth, then awkwardly passed by him and entered the bathroom. Looking into the mirror, she realized her face was flushed red, like a monkey’s behind.
She patted her cheeks and muttered to herself, “It’s nothing, really nothing. Besides, he doesn’t like you anyway, so it doesn’t matter.”
After some time trying to calm herself, she forced a smile in the mirror. She had known all along that he didn’t like her, so why get so worked up over trivial nonsense? Perhaps he was only paying more attention to her because his mother wanted a grandson.
