Throughout the meal, Lin Yan felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles, constantly shifting in her seat, afraid that soon it would show through the suit she wore. Whether it was psychological or not, she felt this time was more intense, seemingly more than any previous occasion.

Leng Mohan occasionally fed her some food, noticing her discomfort but not lingering long. After lunch, he drove Lin Yan away.

When they returned home, it was Ye Ye who opened the door. Seeing Leng Mohan, she smiled like a blooming flower, gentle and charming, addressing him warmly, “Mohan, why did you take so long to come back?”

“Had some matters to attend to,” Leng Mohan replied politely but curtly, then changed his shoes and went inside without further words.

Lin Yan followed behind him. Ye Ye looked curiously at Lin Yan, staring intently at the suit she wore for a long moment before asking, “Lin Yan, why are you wearing a man’s suit?”

She had already noticed it wasn’t Leng Mohan’s clothing and asked deliberately, then, seeming to regret her words, covered her mouth and fell silent.

Lin Yan blushed slightly, nodded politely in response, then suddenly hurried up the stairs with quick steps.

Once inside her room, she angrily tore the suit from her shoulders. While rummaging through the wardrobe for other clothes, she spotted a pale blue dress. Wrinkling her nose in irritation, she slapped the garment and muttered to herself, “That damn Mohan, he’s definitely doing this on purpose.”

After grabbing a change of clothes, she went to the bathroom and started filling the bathtub. During a brief pause, she went over to the bedside shelf where a desk calendar stood, covered with various scribbles.

Lin Yan was not good with memory, so she recorded every important date she needed to remember there. Each morning, she would glance at it. Turning to the previous month, she saw that her last period began on the 5th—and today was exactly the 5th. This date was marked in red ink, but the mark was clearly not her own. Aside from Leng Mohan and herself, the only other person living in the house was Madame Zhang, who certainly wouldn’t bother marking such things out of boredom. Therefore, it could only mean that Mohan had marked it.

With a scowl, Lin Yan furiously rubbed out the red mark on the 5th with a red pen, pouting in anger, “It really is intentional.”

Leng Mohan watched the hurried figure ascending the stairs for a long moment. Only when she disappeared into her room did he curve his lips into a faint smile, shaking his head slightly. He settled down on the living room sofa downstairs, turned on the TV, which was showing an old-fashioned romance drama called "Wood."

Lin Yan generally enjoyed watching these melodramatic, blood-boiling romance shows.

Ye Ye looked at Leng Mohan’s profile, her eyes sparkling. She tossed her voluminous waves of hair, twisted her waist, and sat down on the sofa, commenting, “This show’s actually quite good. The male lead will eventually be with the female lead. Even if they each live their own lives along the way, they will end up together.”

Leng Mohan lowered his gaze, wearing an ambiguous smile that made his emotions hard to read. He toyed with the remote control and said lightly, “Is that so?”

“Yes, even if the female lead marries her cousin, or the male lead weds another woman, they will ultimately come together.”

Leng Mohan looked up at her. She smiled softly, her pink tongue lightly tracing the outline of her deep red lips, alluring and sensual.

He shifted closer to her and, in a gentle, soft voice, asked, “Do you know how to make red date and lotus seed porridge?”
