“Cough, cough, cough!” Jiang Yun tried hard not to laugh.
Ren Xing had the call on speaker, and Huang Kang’s exasperated voice came through. “You’re making fun of me, aren’t you? How about I give you my own palm? Would you like that?”
“Ha ha ha!” Ren Xing laughed. “Teacher Huang Kang, I’m not teasing you anymore! I’ll have a serving of fried rice with shredded pork!”
“That’s more like it!”
“Ha ha ha!”
Ren Xing ended the call. Wang Fengwan took out her own phone and made a call. Unlike Ren Xing, she did not tease Huang Kang, instead ordering a serving of spicy dry pot.
Jiang Yun kept winking at Wang Fengwan, but she acted as though she had not noticed.
When it was Zhu Yin’s turn, she teased Huang Kang a little before ordering a bowl of rice topped with green peppers.
After a while, the five of them boarded the plane. Once it took off, it carried them away from Zhijiang and toward Xiaoxiang.
“Phew! We’ve finally arrived!”
The five of them walked out of the airport and saw several Cadillacs parked by the roadside.
Jiang Yun led Li Mengya toward his own car.
“You must be Teacher Jiang Yun?”
Jiang Yun nodded.
“Please, get in!”
Jiang Yun and Li Mengya climbed into the car, while the others got into the other vehicles. The cars started up and carried them away.
Forty minutes later, they arrived at the fork in the road leading to Mushroom House.
Jiang Yun got out of the car. “Everyone, follow me. We go this way.”
Guiding them with practiced familiarity, Jiang Yun led the group toward Mushroom House.
When they arrived, Jiang Yun walked inside. “Teacher He? Teacher Huang Kang?”
Huang Kang emerged from the kitchen wearing an apron and holding a knife. He looked at them. “You all came together?”
“No!” Jiang Yun put on an earnest expression. “The five of us just happened to run into each other at the airport!”
Huang Kang shot him a glare. “I can’t be bothered with you. This was definitely your ridiculous idea. You’re the one who told Ren Xing to order bear’s paw!”
“Ha ha ha!” Jiang Yun laughed awkwardly. “It was just to liven up the show!”
“Go ahead and sit down. I’ll cook first. Dinner will be ready soon!” Huang Kang said.
“Where’s Teacher He?” Jiang Yun asked.
“He went out to pick apples!”
“There are still apples left?”
“Not many!”
“Oh!”
Jiang Yun took off his coat, went into the kitchen, washed his hands, and began helping Huang Kang prepare the meal.
Li Mengya, Wang Fengwan, and Zhu Yin gathered around the kitchen curiously, watching Jiang Yun and Huang Kang cook.
Jiang Yun rolled his eyes. “Why are you all crowding around here? Are there flowers to look at?”
“Of course there are flowers!” Wang Fengwan said.
Jiang Yun looked puzzled. “Where?”
“You, of course—you shameless womanizer!”
Jiang Yun was speechless. Where had that come from? He waved his hand. “Shoo, shoo! Don’t get in the way of my cooking!”
After a while, He Ling returned from outside. “Everyone’s here?”

“Hello, Teacher He!” Everyone greeted He Ling.
“Mm. Where’s Jiang Yun?”
“Senior Jiang Yun is cooking in the kitchen!” Zhu Yin said.
He Ling nodded and began setting the table. The others gathered around and took their seats.
After a while, Jiang Yun came out carrying a plate. “Rice topped with green peppers!”
He placed it on the table and returned to the kitchen.
“Fried rice with shredded pork!”
“Wow! Why are all the dishes ordered this time main courses?” He Ling remarked.
“One last dish—spicy dry pot! I made it myself!” Jiang Yun placed the dish on the table. “Go on, give it a try. I made it!”
“Wow, Senior Jiang Yun, you can cook too?” Zhu Yin asked in amazement.
Jiang Yun planted his hands on his hips. “Of course!”
At last, Jiang Yun brought out two more dishes. Once Huang Kang joined them, everyone began eating.
“There are two main dishes. Everyone, serve some into your own small bowls!”
“Sure thing!”
“This fried rice with shredded pork smells amazing. I’m going to eat plenty!” Ren Xing wolfed it down, shoveling in huge mouthfuls without the slightest concern for appearances.
Every move they made was captured by the cameras.
“Mengya, things were so hectic just now that I haven’t properly greeted you!” Huang Kang held out his right hand.
“It’s all right, Teacher Huang!” Li Mengya extended her own hand and shook his.
He Ling joked, “Jiang Yun, wherever you go in the future, are you planning to take Mengya with you?”
“Cough, cough, cough!” Jiang Yun began laughing with his bowl of rice in hand.
Wang Fengwan rolled her eyes. “Have you caught Yang Mi’s disease? Why has your sense of humor become so childish?”
“Cough, cough, cough!” Jiang Yun laughed. “No, I just suddenly felt like laughing.”
After dinner, someone announced, “You girls wash the dishes!”
“Huh?” Zhu Yin sighed.
“All right.”
So Zhu Yin and Wang Fengwan went to wash the dishes.
“I’ll help too!” Li Mengya volunteered, hurrying into the kitchen after them.
“Remember to wash the outsides of the bowls too!” Jiang Yun shouted.
Zhu Yin replied, “Oh!”
“Jiang Yun, do you take us for helpless idiots?” Wang Fengwan called back.
“Exactly,” Li Mengya added. “We’re refined young ladies. We’re not messy at all!”
Jiang Yun, He Ling, Huang Kang, and Ren Xing sat in the living room and began drinking tea.
“Ren Xing, how have things been going for you lately?” Huang Kang asked in the manner of an older senior.
Ren Xing nodded. “Not bad. I haven’t become wildly popular, but I’m getting by.”
“Appear on a few more programs and people will start recognizing you,” Jiang Yun said.
Ren Xing smiled. “Senior Jiang Yun, you’re the person I admire most in the entertainment industry.”
“You started from nothing and carved out a world for yourself through sheer effort!”

Jiang Yun smiled. Perhaps he had simply been lucky.
“Don’t force things. Let everything happen naturally. Of course, you still have to know how to seize opportunities,” Jiang Yun said.
“I’ve learned a great deal from you,” Ren Xing replied.
“Mm.”
After a while, the three girls emerged from the kitchen.
Wang Fengwan then dropped onto the sofa without a shred of elegance, leaning back against it. “Washing dishes is exhausting. My back hurts from bending over!”
“What happened to the refined young lady?” Jiang Yun teased.
Wang Fengwan rolled her eyes, pulled herself together, and sat upright.
“Teacher He, what game are we playing tonight?” Zhu Yin asked.
“We’re not playing any games tonight!”
“No games?” Everyone looked puzzled.
“That’s right. No games tonight. We’re watching television!”
“Yay!” Zhu Yin cheered.
“What are we watching, Teacher He?” Jiang Yun asked.
“You’ll find out soon enough!”
After a while, several staff members carried in an LCD television and began setting it up.
Jiang Yun and the others stood to one side, watching curiously.
Once the television had been installed, they tested it and found that everything was working properly.
He Ling called out, “Come on, let’s watch TV!”
Everyone sat down around the sofa. He Ling glanced at the time, picked up the remote, and tuned in to a television channel.
“Da-da-da-da-da!”
A light, cheerful melody began to play.
“How rich is the taste of black coffee?
I only want the carefree sweetness of soda...
I only want to hold your hand in the rain and wait for the rainbow.
You say I’m your superhero.”
“Oh, I wondered what we were going to watch. So it’s this!” Jiang Yun said with a laugh.
“Ha ha ha!” He Ling laughed. “The main reason is that you’re in this episode!”
And so, they all sat together and began watching Run, My Friends. At the same time, viewers across the internet and in front of their televisions were watching the same program.
The episode opened with Jiang Yun in a hotel room.
“Mr. Jiang Yun, you have a special identity in this episode!”
“A special identity? That sounds great! It’s right up my alley!” the Jiang Yun on the screen replied.
“This is your identity, and you also have two undercover teammates!”
“Oh?” Jiang Yun nodded. He took the card and glanced at it. “It’s durian! Could the others have stinky tofu?”
The cameraman shook his head.
