Chapter One Hundred and Eight: Take It or Leave It, and a Visit to Ding Le
Jiang Yun wore a strange expression. “Do I look like that kind of man?”
“Ha!”
Li Mengya burst out laughing in anger. She had been so forward, and this was the answer she got.
“It’s not about being angry or not. The main thing is, I like sleeping on the floor.” After saying that, Jiang Yun turned and headed straight for Li Mengya’s room.
“Ha!”
Li Mengya laughed again, nearly from exasperation.
That night, Jiang Yun lay on the floor, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Truly, if he was told to sleep on the floor, he really was made to sleep on the floor.
The key point was that it was the living room floor.
Early the next morning, Jiang Yun sat up from the floor, sore all over.
“How did you sleep last night?” Li Mengya asked while wearing a dress, standing behind the small bar and dutifully making breakfast.
Jiang Yun rolled his eyes. “As if you don’t know. You were snoring in your sleep and didn’t care about anyone else’s feelings at all! Not even whether I could take it!”
“Go to hell!” Li Mengya grabbed a carrot and threw it at him.
Looking both embarrassed and furious, Li Mengya snapped, “If you dare bring up the snoring again, you can forget about coming here ever again!”
“Fine, fine, I won’t mention it!”
“Humph!”
The two sat down to breakfast.
Rice porridge, hard-boiled eggs cooked in plain water, and frozen buns reheated in the microwave.
Jiang Yun peeled an egg and took a bite.
“Ugh!”
“Why is your egg runny?”
Li Mengya was mortified.
Jiang Yun took a sip of the rice porridge.
“Puh, puh!”
“Who told you rice porridge needs salt?”
Black lines seemed to drop from Li Mengya’s forehead, and she looked both embarrassed and irritated. “Eat it or don’t!”
Jiang Yun pinched his nose and forced down an egg, a bun, and half a bowl of porridge.
He patted his chest. “What a breakfast. It’s enough to make a person nauseous. There are even ice lumps inside the bun!”
“It’s a frozen bun!” Li Mengya said with perfect righteousness.
Jiang Yun looked at her seriously. “Miss Li, I know it’s a frozen bun. Frozen buns belong in the refrigerator compartment. Have you ever seen frozen buns stored in the freezer?”
“I...” Li Mengya was speechless.
She quickly found an excuse. “But it’s a frozen bun! It’s quick food, just like frozen dumplings!”
“I know it’s a frozen bun! It’s quick food, just like dumplings!” Jiang Yun said.
“If it’s the same as dumplings, what’s wrong with putting it in the freezer?”
“I...” This time Jiang Yun was the one left speechless.
He shook his head helplessly. Damn, she really was hopeless when it came to ordinary life.
Placing both hands on Li Mengya’s shoulders, Jiang Yun said solemnly, “Fine, you win. By your logic, instant noodles are also quick food, so they should be kept in the freezer too!”
“This...”
Seeing that she was in the wrong, Li Mengya simply tilted her head back and stared at the ceiling.
Jiang Yun dressed himself properly, then came over to her and flicked her smooth forehead. “All right, go change clothes quickly!”
Li Mengya covered her forehead and shot him a resentful glare.
That glare made Jiang Yun itch all over, as if he wanted nothing more than to punish this little temptress right then and there.
She returned to her room and changed into a dark blue dress, white flats, and a red coat.
When Li Mengya stepped out, Jiang Yun’s eyes lit up at once.
He hurriedly averted his gaze. Ah, I really admire myself. To think I’m this righteous.
Li Mengya had no idea what he was thinking. She came up to him, hooked her arm through his, and said, “Let’s go!”
“It’s already the Beginning of Winter. Aren’t you cold wearing a dress?”
Li Mengya ignored him completely.
Jiang Yun kept chattering on.
“Oh.” He suddenly looked enlightened. “Now I know why you’re not afraid of the cold.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re wearing thermal leggings!”
“Go to hell!”
“Hehe.”
They reached the underground parking garage, where Li Mengya tossed the keys to Jiang Yun. “You drive.”
Jiang Yun caught them one-handed. “You got it!”
He took off his suit jacket, folded it neatly, and placed it on the back seat.
“I didn’t expect this. You’re actually quite meticulous.”
“Thank you.” Jiang Yun opened the door and got into the driver’s seat.
The car started up, and Jiang Yun drove Li Mengya to the city hospital.
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the hospital.
Jiang Yun and Li Mengya both put on masks and sunglasses before entering.
Jiang Yun took out his phone and called Ding Li.
Ringing.
Ding Li glanced at her phone, her face lighting up with excitement. She quickly answered. “Hello? Mr. Jiang Yun, are you here?”
“Xiaoli, is it still ward 306 in the general ward?”
“Yes, Mr. Jiang Yun!”
“All right. Wait for me.”
Jiang Yun took Li Mengya’s small hand and headed for the third floor.
When he stepped out of the elevator, he immediately spotted Ding Li waiting at the door of the ward.
He led Li Mengya over.
“Ding Li, no need to keep looking.”
Ding Li looked overjoyed. “Mr. Jiang Yun, please come in.”
Li Mengya and Jiang Yun entered the ward, where Ding Le was fast asleep. Ding Li poured tea for the two of them using paper cups.
“Mr. Jiang Yun, have some tea!”
“Mm.” Jiang Yun took the cup and asked, “How is Lele’s condition now?”
“Pretty good. It’s stable.”
Jiang Yun frowned. “Why hasn’t he had surgery yet?”
“The matching results should come out in the next two days. It’s been almost half a month.”
“Hoo...”
Hearing Ding Li’s answer, Jiang Yun let out a breath of relief.
“Mr. Jiang Yun, what’s wrong?” Ding Li asked.
“It’s good that everything’s going smoothly. I thought something unexpected had happened,” Jiang Yun said.
“How could that be? This is a proper hospital.”
Ding Li said, “Mr. Jiang Yun, should we wake Lele?”
“Yes, wake him.”
Ding Li shook Ding Le’s shoulder. “Lele, wake up. Look who’s here!”
Ding Le slowly opened his drowsy eyes and saw Jiang Yun sitting by the bed.
His face instantly lit up with ecstatic joy, and he sat bolt upright. “Big Brother Jiang Yun, you’re finally here!”
Jiang Yun smiled.
Ding Le looked at Li Mengya. “This is...?”
“Oh.” Ding Le suddenly looked enlightened. “This must be Li Mengya!”
Jiang Yun paused, and Li Mengya paused too.
Jiang Yun asked, “How did you guess that?”
At that moment, Li Mengya was still wearing her mask.
“Hehe.” Ding Le grinned, wearing an I-know-it expression.
“You little brat, stop keeping us in suspense.” Jiang Yun laughed and scolded him.
Ding Le said, “Some time ago, I saw the rumors about you and Goddess Mengya. I was so happy I could hardly stand it! What a pity that in the end you clarified everything.”
Goddess Mengya? Jiang Yun rolled his eyes. What kind of title was that? Could it be...
He gave Ding Le a peculiar look, then glanced at Li Mengya.
Li Mengya shot him a resentful glare.
“Hehe.” Jiang Yun gave an awkward laugh.
Ding Le punched Jiang Yun’s shoulder. “Big Brother Jiang Yun, why did you have to clarify it? Isn’t it great to be with Goddess Mengya?”
Jiang Yun punched Ding Le in the chest. “The adults’ matters are beyond children’s understanding.”
Ding Le rolled his eyes.
Jiang Yun rubbed Ding Le’s head. “All right, rest well. I’m leaving.”
“Huh?” Ding Le immediately looked crestfallen. “Stay a little longer.”
Jiang Yun looked up in thought. “All right, then I’ll stay another twenty minutes.”
