Chapter 034: Ultimate Fusion Demon God vs. Ultimate Fusion Hero!
“…I activate the Magic Card ‘Ace Holy Grail’ from my hand! According to its effect, I toss a coin—if it lands on heads, marked with a single eye, I draw two cards from my deck; if it’s tails, which is blank, my opponent draws two cards.”
After explaining the card’s effect, Yugi flipped a coin in the virtual display, and as fate would have it, the result did not disappoint him.
“I draw two cards! …And then I activate ‘Ace Holy Grail’ a second time! The result is… once again, heads!”
Maze Brothers: ???
What the heck? Two identical Magic Cards in succession, and both landed heads?!
“Next, I set two cards face-down, then summon ‘Elemental HERO Necroshade’ in attack position. Now, I use ‘Elemental HERO Bubbleman’s’ special ability to summon him as well! When he’s the only card in my hand, I can summon him straight to the field.”
Setting two Spell or Trap cards, Yugi first summoned Necroshade, then used Bubbleman’s effect to bring him out as well. In this way, Yugi had four monsters on his field.

The Water and Thunder Deity cards were also revealed at this moment by the two brothers together.
“Sanga of the Thunder, Suijin of the Water, Kazejin of the Wind! At this moment, all three Deity Beasts have assembled on the field!”
As the two brothers shouted in excitement, the three boxes began to tremble. Even Yugi felt the ground shake beneath him as if an earthquake had struck the maze chamber.

A form as massive as the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon—an ultimate Deity Beast that fused the forces of Light, Water, and Wind into one.
“Behold! The fused Ultimate Deity—Gate Guardian!!”
The upper body of Sanga of the Thunder, the main torso of Kazejin of the Wind, and the lower body of Suijin of the Water—a perfect justification for the title ‘Fusion God’.

With the appearance of Gate Guardian, the brothers were confident they held the key to victory; all that remained was to methodically attack and stack more monsters on their field. Yugi’s defeat was only a matter of time.
Thinking this, the two couldn’t help but get cocky—so cocky, in fact, that they revealed all of Gate Guardian’s powers to Yugi!
“The Gate Guardian is the ultimate monster formed by fusing Sanga of the Thunder, Suijin of the Water, and Kazejin of the Wind! As such, Gate Guardian can use each of their special abilities!”
“Sanga of the Thunder: once per turn, he can unleash lightning to destroy one Spell Card targeting himself. Kazejin of the Wind: once per turn, he can summon a gale to tear apart one Trap Card targeting himself. Suijin of the Water: once per turn, he can summon a torrent to block the attack of one monster!”
“And next: Gate Guardian’s battle stats! He can attack three times using each of the Deities’ individual powers, or he can attack as a single entity with his own incredible strength!”
In other words, if they fight using the three individual Deities’ powers, that means “Sanga of the Thunder has 2600 ATK and 2200 DEF,” “Kazejin of the Wind has 2400 ATK and 2200 DEF,” and “Suijin of the Water has 2500 ATK and 2400 DEF.”
When Gate Guardian fights as a single entity, he uses his own stats: 3750 ATK, 3400 DEF.
Once per turn, any Spell or Trap Card targeting himself can be negated; once per turn, any monster attacking him can have its damage nullified; in battle, he can fight as the three Deities separately, or as Gate Guardian in a single, overwhelming form!
In the original anime, Gate Guardian truly lived up to his title as the “Ultimate Fusion Deity”!
But! No matter—
“Go! Gate Guardian! Destroy that birdman first!”
Bubbleman and Necroshade had just appeared, and their strengths were unclear; as for Sparkman, his threat was manageable, so the brothers decided to target Flame Wingman.
Flame Wingman’s effect was clear: when it destroys a monster in battle, it inflicts damage to that monster’s controller equal to the destroyed monster’s original ATK.
Given such a powerful effect, the Maze Brothers naturally wanted to take him out first!
“At this moment, I activate the Magic Card ‘De-Fusion’!”
Just as the tricolored beam of energy, with power of 3750 points, was about to hit Flame Wingman, Yugi hurriedly flipped his set “De-Fusion.”

Ultimate Fusion Hero? What’s that?
As the brothers stared in confusion, Yugi revealed the “Elemental HERO Clayman” he had drawn and pointed at the five monsters on his field.
The Light-attribute Sparkman, the Dark-attribute Necroshade, the Earth-attribute Clayman, the Wind-attribute Avian, the Water-attribute Bubbleman, and the Fire-attribute Burstinatrix!
Seeing these six Elemental HERO monsters, each representing one of the six main attributes in Duel Monsters, the Maze Brothers’ brows shot up, eyelids twitched, and hearts skipped a beat—a bad omen looming!
“Sparkman! Necroshade! Clayman! Avian! Bubbleman! And Burstinatrix! Ultimate Fusion!”
Flipping over the last of his two set cards from the previous turn, Yugi activated “Polymerization”—the six Elemental HERO monsters leapt into the vortex together.
“Come forth! The ultimate Fusion Hero—Elemental HERO Immortal!”
A golden-bodied, musclebound warrior! A being of pure gold! The ultimate existence born of fusing all six elemental powers of Duel Monsters!

“Immortal! By fusing six Elemental HERO monsters of different attributes, his own attribute, in addition to ‘Light’, also counts as ‘Dark’, ‘Earth’, ‘Wind’, ‘Water’, and ‘Fire’!”

“And! For every monster on your field that shares an attribute with Immortal, his ATK increases by 300 points!”
Sanga, Kazejin, Suijin, and Gate Guardian itself—all four share his attributes! That’s a 1200-point boost.

A blinding light engulfed the entire underground labyrinth, shining through every crack and even reaching up to the surface!

The Maze Brothers—LP reduced to zero. Yugi wins!
Meanwhile, in Pegasus’s castle, as he watched the now-whited-out giant screen before him, Pegasus drained his wine, licked his lips, and whispered:
“The Ultimate Fusion Hero, is it? …Yugi-boy~ My interest in you just keeps growing, oh yes!”
