The Five Gods and the Emperor Dragon are nothing but a joke; for true power, look no further than our Elemental HEROes!
“My turn! I activate the Field Spell ‘Gate of Fusion’!”
As Yoichi activated the field spell, the entire duel arena was instantly divided into countless squares by streaks of green energy. The surrounding space transformed from blue skies, white clouds, and a highway wilderness into a purple-black alternate dimension.
“Gate of Fusion, true to its name, is a field spell related to ‘Fusion Summoning’,” Yoichi explained, noticing Honda’s puzzled expression across the field.
“As long as this field spell remains active, both players can perform fusion summons using the required fusion material monsters they’ve gathered, without needing to activate the ‘Polymerization’ spell card!”
In simpler terms, as long as you have the materials, you can fusion summon even without the fusion spell card.
“Next, I activate the Spell Card ‘Angel’s Grace’, draw three cards, then discard two.”
Seeing the monster card among the three drawn cards thanks to Angel’s Grace, Yoichi smiled. With this, he could easily achieve an OTK with the Five God Dragons and Five Emperor Dragons this turn!
“The drawback of Angel’s Grace is discarding two cards, but because of that, I can activate the special effect of ‘Executioner - Demon Asura’ sent to the graveyard.”
Yoichi took a trap card from his hand and immediately inserted it into the duel disk. In the next second, he pressed the activation button, declaring it would be activated this turn.
“When Demon Asura is sent to the graveyard, once per turn, I can activate a trap card from my hand, and the trap card I’m activating is—”
As Yoichi activated the trap card, the scene depicted on the card came into view:
In the trap card’s artwork, the top card in the graveyard zone was a Continuous Spell named “Will of Mortals,” while two smoking monster cards beside it were “Flame Manipulator” and “Legendary Swordsman Masaki.” Together, these two were the fusion materials for the fusion monster “Flame Swordsman” in the OCG.
“We all know that the most basic fusion summon requires having fusion material monsters gathered in your hand or on the field to proceed.”
“However, under the effect of the trap card ‘Chain Materials,’ every time I perform a fusion summon this turn, I can not only use materials from my hand and field, but also select materials from my deck and graveyard!”
“Hss!”
Hearing Yoichi’s explanation, Honda and the others behind him all gasped sharply.
Materials can be gathered not only from the hand and the field but also from the deck and graveyard? That’s insanely broken!
In this era, fusion summons typically used monster cards from the hand and field as materials. The only more advanced method was ‘Dragon’s Mirror’ used by Kaiba, which allowed fusion summons using monsters banished from the field and graveyard.
But for Yoichi to be able to select from four zones — hand, field, graveyard, and deck — that was a first since Duel Monsters began!
“Of course, during the turn ‘Chain Materials’ is activated, my monsters cannot attack, and any fusion monsters summoned by this effect will be destroyed at the end of the turn.”
“Phew—”
Hearing the negative effects, Honda exhaled deeply. As expected, such an overpowered card must come with a downside.
Seeing Honda relax slightly, Yoichi’s smile flickered briefly at the corner of his mouth. Since he dared to activate it, he naturally had a way to handle the negative effects!
“First, I fuse ‘Elemental HERO Wingman’ and ‘Elemental HERO Burstinatrix’ from my deck under the effect of ‘Gate of Fusion’!”
Wingman and Burstinatrix, like a couple, flew out from Yoichi’s deck, flashed briefly on the field, then were absorbed by the sky of the Fusion Gate behind Yoichi, which then “spat out” the successfully fused Flame Wingman.
“By the way, I forgot to mention: the materials used by ‘Gate of Fusion’ are banished instead of sent to the graveyard, and the fusion materials used by the trap card ‘Chain Materials’ are also banished rather than sent to the graveyard.”
Honda noticed Wingman and Burstinatrix weren’t sent to the graveyard normally but were banished. He was about to ask about this when Yoichi continued explaining.
“Next, I fuse the third ‘Elemental HERO Sparkman’ from the deck with the ‘Elemental HERO Flame Wingman’ on the field by banishing them!”
The fusion of Wingman, Burstinatrix, and Sparkman produced the very fusion monster that had earlier struck fear into Osamu Otaki— the Light Elemental HERO, Shining Flare Wingman!
“Then, I banish six different attribute Elemental HERO monsters — four from my hand and two from my deck: ‘Elemental HERO Prisma’ (Light), ‘Elemental HERO Shadow Mist’ (Dark), ‘Elemental HERO Clayman’ (Earth), ‘Elemental HERO Stratos’ (Wind), ‘Elemental HERO Liquidman’ (Water), and ‘Elemental HERO Bladedge’ (Fire) — and perform a fusion summon—”
Light, Dark, Earth, Wind, Water, Fire — the six elemental forces of the world, now unified as one, their powers concentrated in a single body!
“Come forth! Elemental HERO Ultimate Immortal!!”
Ultimate Immortal — the name alone reveals it as an advanced version of “Elemental HERO Immortal.”
This monster first appeared when Yoichi, during the Kingdom Island vs. Labyrinth Brothers duel’s final turn, fused six monsters including the Miracle Four, Bubbleman, and Dark Spiritman to create the legendary Ultimate Immortal HERO!
Now, as the president of Illusion Corp, Yoichi had realized this card and included it as the first monster in his deck with a star level as high as 12!
“Simultaneously, the effect of Ultimate Immortal activates upon its fusion summon!”
The moment he finished speaking, the ten Elemental HERO monsters used as fusion materials and banished by the effects of ‘Gate of Fusion’ and ‘Chain Materials’ were called back from the banished zone, returning one by one to Yoichi’s duel disk’s designated area.
“Ultimate Immortal’s effect upon successful fusion summon is to return all banished cards from both players to their respective owners' graveyards. For every monster among those returned whose attribute matches Ultimate Immortal’s, its attack increases by 300 points!”
A golden aura enveloped Ultimate Immortal’s body, its power surging rapidly, surpassing the two ace monsters of the Five Giants in mere seconds!
“Ultimate Immortal’s main attribute is ‘Light’, but by another effect of its own, it can also be treated as having six other attributes — namely ‘Dark’, ‘Earth’, ‘Wind’, ‘Water’, and ‘Fire’!”
“And since all ten returned Elemental HERO monster cards share attributes with Ultimate Immortal, therefore—”
The Five Giants hissed in shock!
“In addition to Ultimate Immortal’s power boost, my other fusion monster on the field, Shining Flare Wingman, gains 300 attack points for each ‘Elemental HERO’ monster in my graveyard!”
The Five Giants were utterly stunned!
One power boost from Ultimate Immortal was bad enough; now there was another!
Under the amazed gazes of the Five Giants, Shining Flare Wingman’s power surged even more terrifyingly than Ultimate Immortal’s — a full increase of 4500 attack points, equivalent to the strength of a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!
“Wait! Why is the increase 4500? I remember only thirteen ‘Elemental HERO’ monsters in your graveyard, which should yield only 3900 points.”
Soichiro Ota, controlling Honda, sensed something was off. According to his memory, there were only thirteen ‘Elemental HERO’ monsters in Yoichi’s graveyard, which should grant 3900 attack points.
The initial Golden Blade Hero and Wildheart Hero, along with their fusion Sawtooth Wildheart Hero, had been wiped out by the Five God Dragons’ entrance effect and sent to the grave. Then, through a series of fusion summons this turn, they were banished and later returned by Ultimate Immortal, totaling ten heroes. Together, that made thirteen heroes.
So where did the extra two come from?
Seemingly anticipating this reaction, Yoichi said nothing. Instead, he reached toward his duel disk’s graveyard zone; with a “click,” an intelligent ejector pushed a card out.
Yoichi flipped it over and displayed it to the Five Giants.
“Hm? A trap card... ‘Needleworm Nest’?”
Clearly, this was another card unknown to the Five.
“Needleworm Nest, when activated, sends the top five cards of my deck to the graveyard. When destroyed by the Five God Dragons, it activated along with the Quick-Play Spell ‘Acorn Call Whistle’, sending the top five cards of my deck to the graveyard — among those five cards were the ‘Elemental HERO Flame Girl’ and ‘Elemental HERO Solidman’.”
The Five Giants were speechless.
Who in their right mind would include such an obscure card in their deck?!
“By the way! You said the trap card ‘Chain Materials’ prevents your monsters from attacking this turn and destroys all fusion monsters summoned by its effect at the end phase!”
Swallowing hard, the Five Giants recalled Yoichi’s initial explanation of ‘Chain Materials’ and quickly re-explained, hoping to dispel their fear of the two heroes on the field.
“That’s right. During the turn ‘Chain Materials’ is activated, my monsters can’t attack, and the fusion monsters summoned this way will be destroyed at the end of the turn. But...”
The moment Yoichi said “But,” the Five Giants felt alarm bells ringing wildly in their minds!
“What if I had this card?”
Saying so, Yoichi revealed one of his remaining two cards in hand.
The Five Giants: !!!!!
Seeing the card Yoichi displayed, the Five refused to believe their eyes. Four of them had Soichiro Ota, who controlled Honda’s body, use the virtual duel disk’s function to project Yoichi’s card in huge size before them.
Quick-Play Spell: “Goddess of Time’s Prank.”
“We... have lost...”
At that instant, the Five Giants’ fighting spirit completely dissolved.
“Goddess of Time’s Prank allows me to skip a turn and directly enter the Battle Phase of my next turn. Therefore, even without ‘Polymerization’ or ‘Fusion Substitute,’ because the turn time has advanced to my next turn’s Battle Phase, fusion monsters no longer have fusion attack restrictions! Also, due to the Goddess’s Prank, the negative effect of ‘Chain Materials’ destroying fusion monsters at the end phase will not occur!”
As Yoichi finished speaking, the Five God Dragons and Five Emperor Dragons were bathed in a light several times brighter than the sun on Earth!
“No—!!!!”
Under the overwhelming power of the Duel Spirits, the Five Giants’ personalities were utterly obliterated!
