Swish, swish, swish—four or five pairs of eyes turned toward Su Yunjin at once.

Under the camera’s gaze, Xiaoxiao Zhang, Chuchu Zhang, E Zheng, and Tongyue Guan all looked as though someone had pressed a pause button. The expressions on their faces froze in place.

E Zheng most of all. As a man who admired the spirit of true masculinity, he had already been prepared to sacrifice himself for the sake of everyone else.

Just moments ago, he had been thinking of every possible way to determine east, south, west, and north.

But now…

A compass?

What the hell, a compass?!

If you had a compass, why didn’t you bring it out sooner? Now I just look like an idiot!

E Zheng was practically on the verge of collapse. At the same time, he was far from the only one losing his mind. Several fan groups in the livestream, along with their fan leaders, were also having breakdowns.

The fan leaders in particular had already begun cursing the production team in the chat—only for a compass to suddenly appear.

This…

This…

Did you really have to drag out the suspense like that?!

The fan leaders of several groups nearly spat blood. As for the other viewers, however, Su Yunjin was shining brightly in that moment.

Within minutes, the viewers and Su Yunjin’s fans were laughing themselves silly.

“Absolutely hilarious. Yun Jin, do you have to be this adorable?”

“This is too funny! Tree rings, watches—can’t we use modern technology?”

“Hahahaha! I spat water all over my screen. Su Yunjin, you’ve gained a new fan!”

There was no shortage of people shouting that they were going to become Su Yunjin’s fans. But to her longtime fans, this side of her felt completely new.

The first time they saw her, they were struck by her beauty.

The second time they fell for her, it was because of her solid musical ability.

The third time, it was her strength.

And now? She was unquestionably a walking punchline!

While everyone had been discussing the problem, Su Yunjin had remained silent, listening with exceptional attentiveness and giving the impression that she was just as troubled as the rest of them.

Who could have imagined that she would remain silent until suddenly delivering such a stunning blow?

Couldn’t tell east from west? Use tree rings and a wristwatch to locate a snowy mountain? Nonsense. In this day and age, wasn’t modern technology the obvious choice?

The livestream erupted with laughter.

Behind the scenes, Xu Zhang and the others were also thoroughly entertained by Su Yunjin’s remark.

“Su Yunjin is just too funny. How can she be so adorable?”

The executive director behind them was practically slapping his thigh with delight.

Xu Zhang nodded approvingly. “Exactly. This girl always manages to give people something fresh. I really have no idea how much energy she has inside her.

“I’m beginning to understand Zhang Zhichang now.”

There was a trace of emotion in Xu Zhang’s voice by the time he finished.

“Director Xu, I don’t understand what you mean.” The executive director looked utterly confused.

Zhang Zhichang?

What did he have to do with this?

Xu Zhang gave a bitter smile. “If I had met Su Yunjin first, and happened to have a show in hand, I would have brought her onto my program without hesitation.”

At the mention of this, a trace of disgust flashed through Xu Zhang’s eyes. “But Zhang Zhichang himself is still rather lacking.”

The executive director wanted to ask why, but after thinking it over, he immediately understood.

Zhang Zhichang had discovered Su Yunjin and given a promising newcomer her opportunity. In the entertainment industry, that should have been something worthy of praise.

But from the very day Su Yunjin debuted, people had begun spreading rumors that she and Zhang Zhichang were having an affair.

From that perspective, the first thing a producer ought to have done was clarify the matter. Yet Zhang Zhichang had never said anything, leaving many people with prejudices against Su Yunjin even now.

He had clearly intended to support a newcomer, but instead had allowed a major stain to be placed on that newcomer’s reputation. Whatever his reason, his character was questionable from the outset.

Meanwhile, Xu Zhang and the executive director continued discussing Zhang Zhichang.

Elsewhere, once Su Yunjin had taken out the compass, the group set off.

Although it was noon, only a small amount of sunlight could penetrate the leaves and reach the ground in this forest of towering trees.

Thus, even at midday, it felt to Su Yunjin and the others as though dusk had already arrived.

“Now that we’ve found our route, when are we going to rest? We aren’t going to keep walking and skip sleep tonight, are we?”

The group had only gone a few yards with their backpacks on when Tongyue Guan suddenly asked the question.

There was no way they could finish the route on the map in a single stretch, but they also had no idea where they could rest.

That left them without any sort of plan.

“Exactly. We should figure out when to take breaks,” Chuchu Zhang agreed.

As everyone discussed the matter, E Zheng slowed down and began studying the map carefully, hoping to find some sort of landmark.

If they had landmarks, they could advance from one to the next. That way, they would not exhaust themselves completely.

But E Zheng was soon disappointed. There were indeed no landmarks marked on the map.

The only thing shown was the red destination.

“How are we supposed to plan anything? There aren’t even any landmarks on the map. Are we just expected to walk as far as we feel like?”

Xiaoxiao Zhang leaned over to take a look. After searching the map carefully, she spoke in disappointment.

“There’s no need to plan it that way. Every day, when the sun is about to set, we’ll find a safe place to rest and eat. During the rest of the day, if we get hungry, we’ll eat the food in our backpacks. Once that’s gone, we’ll forage around sunset. After the sun goes down, we’ll rest.”

Seeing Xiaoxiao Zhang becoming discouraged again, Su Yunjin hurriedly spoke up.

She was not merely trying to comfort Xiaoxiao. In a forest like this, even if there were no immediate dangers, low morale within the team was unacceptable.

Besides, Tongyue Guan’s question was perfectly reasonable.

For people without wilderness survival experience, failing to rest properly was practically the same as throwing their lives away.

“What if the weather is good? Or what if it’s like today? In a forest this dense, we can barely see the sun. How are we supposed to know when it’s going to set?”

Tongyue Guan continued questioning her.

It was a sharp and incisive question. Beneath these towering trees, it already looked as though the sun were about to disappear.

In the livestream, the viewers nodded repeatedly as they listened.

“That’s a good point.”

“Using sunset as the signal really won’t work. It sounds like a good plan, but it’s only noon right now.”

“Exactly. If they rest too early and then wake up in the middle of the night, that would be even worse.”

The viewers’ hearts, which had just begun to settle, rose into their throats again. They directly rejected Su Yunjin’s suggestion.

Still, no one was demanding too much of her.

It was not as though everyone these days had wilderness survival experience. Su Yunjin knew a little, but it was impossible for her to account for every detail.

Take the modern world, for instance. Other than out of habit or to show off their status, who still wore a watch?

Everyone used their phones instead.

But their phones had been confiscated, so they had no idea what time it was.

“What a shame.”

“Yeah. If only someone had brought a watch.”

“They’re still too inexperienced. This journey is probably going to leave them exhausted.”

“Exactly. Relying on sunset really isn’t practical.”

Sighs filled the livestream as the viewers shook their heads.

At that very moment, however, Su Yunjin looked at Tongyue Guan as though she were looking at an idiot.

She bit her lip and spoke hesitantly. “Yueyue, is it possible that we could use a watch to tell the time?”

As she spoke, Su Yunjin rolled up her sleeve.

A pitch-black military watch appeared on her wrist.
