“That squad leader of ours really scared me half to death today.”

Twenty minutes later, Su Yunjin and the others finally received their clothing and washbasins from the Logistics Office.

The livestream was paused there as well, since next they would be resting and then heading to the mess hall for a meal.

Out of view of the cameras, Guan Tongyue could no longer hold back and began replaying what had just happened with Su Yunjin on the way.

Zheng E nodded in agreement.

Zhang Xiaoxiao and Zhang Chuchu had not come with them.

As for Zhang Chuchu, Zhang Xiaoxiao had clung to her and insisted she stay behind and go with them instead.

From the look on her face, Zhang Chuchu did not want to, but for some reason she still stayed with Zhang Xiaoxiao.

Su Yunjin could not be bothered with them. It was perfectly fine for her to go to the mess hall with Guan Tongyue and Zheng E.

“Yunjin, why do I get the feeling you are not afraid of our squad leader at all?”

Along the way, Guan Tongyue and Zheng E kept dissecting Fu Lin’s dramatic change from earlier, but Su Yunjin had said very little.

He had seen it clearly just now: Su Yunjin had been frightened out of her wits by Zhang Xiaoxiao’s relentless pressure, yet once Fu Lin stepped in and stopped her, Su Yunjin had become perfectly calm.

Zheng E was a man, but when it came to gossip in their circle, his curiosity was no less than any woman’s.

If Fu Lin had not appeared, she had even been prepared to cry on cue and make a proper display before the cameras of how an old hand like Zhang Xiaoxiao was suppressing a newcomer.

But who could have expected Fu Lin to appear all of a sudden? Before she could even begin, the scene had become his.

Because of that, she had ended up seeming soft and fragile, while Fu Lin had looked stern and imposing, impossible to take lightly.

Still, no matter how one looked at it, Su Yunjin was grateful to Fu Lin.

Aside from helping her out of a tight spot, the more important thing was that Fu Lin had not placed too much attention on her at the time.

At a glance, it looked like nothing more than an officer reprimanding a new recruit. Otherwise, there would have been all sorts of messy rumors spreading outside.

He had protected her and spared her the harassment of gossip and innuendo. For that, Su Yunjin felt genuinely moved.

They had all been there together to receive their clothes and basins. She had not noticed any new recruit or female soldier at all.

And yet in Guan Tongyue and Zheng E’s hands, those tiny details seemed to be examined under a microscope.

Soon, the topic changed again, this time to Zhang Xiaoxiao and Zhang Chuchu.

Zheng E said, “Didn’t you notice Zhang Xiaoxiao is actually especially nice to Zhang Chuchu?”

Guan Tongyue said, “I noticed, I noticed. Their relationship is really different. Zhang Xiaoxiao got scolded and still insisted on keeping Zhang Chuchu behind. Wow, what kind of pairing is this?”
