105 Why So Serious, Teacher Su? (Please Bookmark)
“Wow.”
“Damn, that’s way too cool.”
“Nice one—heroic rescue, and right on time.”
Before Su Yunjin and the others had even reacted, the viewers in the livestream had already been swept up in delight.
Just moments earlier, when Su Yunjin and the other two had lifted the suitcase together, the camera in the corner of the room had caught one of Guan Tongyue’s suitcase wheels wedged against the railing.
Then, as Zhang Chuchu deliberately shifted his strength into it, every ounce of force Guan Tongyue had used to push upward and brace upward came surging back onto her.
She did not have much strength to begin with, and with the recoil driving back against her while she was carrying it alone, she instinctively stumbled back a few steps.
The moment she retreated, Su Yunjin behind her took on the full force of that rebound.
At that instant, everyone could see Su Yunjin being pushed nearly off balance by the backlash.
Even the barrage of comments in the livestream had erupted in cries of alarm.
But just then, Fu Lin appeared. The moment he came in, he grabbed the suitcase at once, then lifted it smoothly onto the top bunk.
It was only a small gesture, but that scene of a hero rescuing a beauty was enough to send many of the appearance-obsessed fans into a frenzy.
He was already strikingly handsome to begin with, and now every movement and mannerism was so handsome it practically dazzled.
That made him even more irresistible.
The comments exploded, and inside the dormitory, after Fu Lin set the suitcase up, he looked at Su Yunjin and asked, “Are you all right?”
“I’m fine, thank you, Squad Leader Fu.”
Su Yunjin thanked him.
Fu Lin’s smile deepened. “No need to be polite. I just came by to see if you needed any help.”
“Yes, Squad Leader, could you put my suitcase up too?”
Su Yunjin said nothing, but Zhang Chuchu spoke from the side.
His suitcase was even larger and heavier than Guan Tongyue’s.
Fu Lin glanced at it and did not refuse. He walked over, took hold of the suitcase, exerted strength with both hands, and very easily placed it on the upper bunk.
“Wow, Squad Leader Fu, you’re amazing.”
As soon as the suitcase was lifted up, Zhang Chuchu praised him at once.
The way he said “Squad Leader” was sweet enough to drip.
“That’s nothing. It’s just a suitcase.”
Fu Lin replied in a cool, indifferent tone, nothing like the cheerful expression he had worn a moment ago.
“If you’ve finished settling in, go to the quartermaster’s office to collect your uniforms, along with basins for washing your face and feet.”
Fu Lin looked at Su Yunjin, then at Zhang Chuchu and Guan Tongyue. His voice turned serious and measured.
“Mm, all right, we understand.”
Guan Tongyue nodded.
Before leaving, Fu Lin also told them that if they had any problems, they could come to him. From today on, he would be responsible for their entire squad.
Fu Lin left.
Su Yunjin and the others also set off to the quartermaster’s office to collect their uniforms and basins.
They had thought it would be simple and take only a few minutes, but once they arrived, they found there were already quite a lot of people there, lined up in two long queues.
“So many people?”
Guan Tongyue stayed close to Su Yunjin, while Zhang Chuchu was left on the side, like some kind of clown at the edge of the stage.
“We probably aren’t being trained as just a few people. We’re probably training together with a much larger group.”
Su Yunjin said.
There weren’t many female soldiers here, but since Fu Lin had already become squad leader, there was no way it would be as simple as just the few of them.
“Chuchu.”
Just as Su Yunjin was lining up, a voice that was neither fully male nor fully female came from behind.
Su Yunjin and Guan Tongyue turned toward the sound, and Zhang Xiaoxiao and the others had arrived as well.
Zheng E followed behind Zhang Xiaoxiao, and upon seeing Su Yunjin and the others, he also greeted them casually.
“You’re done settling in?”
When Zhang Xiaoxiao and the others came over, Zhang Chuchu greeted them with a bright smile.
But his gaze did not fall on Zhang Xiaoxiao at all. Instead, it landed on Zheng E.
Zheng E met Zhang Chuchu’s eyes and smiled. “Mm, we’re done. What about you?”
“We’re done too. There are really so many people here today.”
“Yes.”
Zhang Xiaoxiao spoke.
Then he mouthed, “Are we going to train with them?”
The way he asked that, under the camera, anyone with half a brain could tell what he meant, and paired with his look of disdain, the words were clearly laced with something else.
“No idea, but it’s not bad to have a few more people.”
Zhang Chuchu said with a cheerful smile.
With his back to the camera, the viewers could not see it, but Su Yunjin could see the contempt in Zhang Chuchu’s eyes for what Zhang Xiaoxiao had just said.
Zhang Xiaoxiao immediately curled his lip. “If there are this many people, won’t the training be really strict?”
That remark...
Su Yunjin was left speechless.
And in the livestream, Zhang Xiaoxiao, who had never been particularly likable to begin with, was magnified by the camera even further.
Watching this man, who lacked any real masculine bearing and always seemed to stab others in the back, already fear training before it had even begun, the viewers were instantly infuriated, hurling insults through the screen.
“How is this guy like this?”
“So disgusting. I really do hate him for a reason.”
“Appearance reflects the heart. Look at that sour, petty face of his—he’s truly revolting.”
“Hah. If training is so hard, what the hell did you come here for?”
The abuse kept coming.
For a moment, the comments exploded, full of mockery and venomous sarcasm.
Meanwhile, at the scene, Zhang Xiaoxiao did not feel he had done anything wrong. After speaking, he glanced at Su Yunjin.
Beneath his too-narrow brow, a hint of hostility flashed in those drooping eyes.
Su Yunjin said nothing, but her brows also drew together.
“So you’re Teacher Su Yunjin, then. Ah, I’ve long heard of your name. In the days ahead, I’ll be counting on your care and guidance.”
Before Su Yunjin could even ponder where Zhang Xiaoxiao’s hostility came from, she heard him speak with an awkward laugh.
The meaning behind those words was clear even to an idiot: he was implying, openly and indirectly, that Su Yunjin had backing.
With a displeased frown, Su Yunjin said, “What exactly do you mean by that, Teacher Zhang? If anyone should be asking for special consideration, it ought to be our Squad Leader Fu Lin.
“Or you can go to the director, or the producer. How am I supposed to look after you?”
...
“Pfft, hahahah!”
“Zhang Xiaoxiao just ran into a brick wall.”
“I love Su Yunjin’s personality like this. So satisfying. Damn, those words were pure relief to hear.”
“No wonder she’s the girl I like. That was so cool!”
In the livestream, after Su Yunjin fired back at Zhang Xiaoxiao, the viewers nearly laughed themselves sick.
They had heard perfectly well what Zhang Xiaoxiao’s words really meant.
At first, many people had thought Su Yunjin would suffer for it, but they had not expected her to go straight for the throat without giving him any face at all.
That temper was utterly lovable.
The stream was lively, but in the room, Su Yunjin’s lack of courtesy left the atmosphere frozen.
Zhang Xiaoxiao rolled his eyes hard.
Guan Tongyue, standing beside Su Yunjin, looked at her with some concern. Zhang Chuchu, on the other hand, did not care at all; he would have been delighted if Zhang Xiaoxiao targeted Su Yunjin.
The mood grew a little tense.
Fortunately, Zhang Xiaoxiao was not a host for nothing. After rolling his eyes, he snorted and said, “Wasn’t that just politeness? Teacher Su, aren’t you taking it a little too seriously?”
That shameless bastard was clearly trying to trip Su Yunjin up, and yet he had the nerve to say she was taking it too seriously.
It was obvious he was trying to force an apology out of her.
Hearing that, Su Yunjin suddenly laughed.
