Chapter 105: The Sea Dwellers
Back inside the submarine, Hua Feng and his team continued to review the data transmitted from headquarters, with a special emphasis on the possibility of encountering the legendary "Sea People."
Hua Feng stared solemnly at the life detection monitor on the radar screen, while discreetly using his mental powers to probe the surrounding environment. He had no idea what mysteries this unknown continent might hold. Regardless of what might happen, caution was imperative. As the key figure in this mission involving the magnetic europium stone, he was currently at a complete loss. He had no clear image of the stone’s appearance nor any idea where it might be found. The epicenter of the recent explosion had yet to be pinpointed, and everything was essentially starting from scratch.
"Pay attention to the information on the mission device," Hua Feng reminded as the team leader.
"Don’t worry," Wang Yue replied confidently. Except for Hua Feng, who was multitasking with his mental probing, the others quietly focused on the data just received, projected on their left forearms.
The data read:
"The legendary sunken continent of Atlantis lies near the center of the Atlantic Ocean. At its heart stood the magnificent continent of Atlantis, home to splendid palaces and the grand temple of Poseidon, the sea god of Greek mythology.
Around the capital, Poseidonia, there were two concentric rings of land and three concentric canals. On two of these ring-shaped lands, cold and hot springs could still be found. In addition, the continent boasted shipyards, racetracks, barracks, stadiums, and parks.
This is the image of Atlantis portrayed by the Greek philosopher Plato. Since then, this ‘ideal state’ has become a sacred utopia in people’s hearts. As archaeological work has progressed, British scholar Scott Elliott pointed out that Atlantis represented the pinnacle of human civilization at that time.
In the mid-19th century, American archaeologist Denali dedicated his life to the study of Atlantis, publishing his findings in 'Atlantis—The Ancient World,' earning him the title ‘Father of Scientific Atlantis Studies.’ Denali proposed thirteen key principles regarding Atlantis:
1. In ancient times, there was a large island in the Atlantic, part of the Atlantic continent;
2. The authenticity of Plato’s account of Atlantis is beyond doubt;
3. Atlantis was the original place where humanity emerged from primitive life to civilization;
4. Over time, the population of Atlantis grew and spread across the world;
5. The ‘Garden of Eden’ described in the biblical Book of Genesis was Atlantis;
6. The gods of ancient Greek and Norse mythology were actually kings, queens, and heroes of Atlantis;
7. Remnants of Atlantis’ sun worship survive in Egyptian and Peruvian mythologies;
8. Egypt was Atlantis’ oldest colony;
9. Europe’s bronze technology originated from Atlantis;
10. Many European letters trace their origins to Atlantis;
11. Atlantis was the ancestor of the Semitic, Indian, and European peoples;
12. About 12,000 years ago, Atlantis sank beneath the sea due to a cataclysmic event;
13. A few inhabitants escaped by ship, leaving behind ancient flood legends.
Denali’s thirteen principles seem to answer many mysteries surrounding humanity’s history, including biblical accounts.
Many customs of ancient Egypt bear strange ‘marks’ found also in ancient Mexico. In Mayan tomb murals, patterns strikingly similar to those in Egyptian royal tombs are easily recognized. Such coincidences are countless, suggesting an inevitable connection between the cultures despite their great distance and the lack of direct evidence of contact, as they existed in different historical eras. It is plausible these ‘coincidences’ are traces left by a highly advanced ancient civilization.
Some scholars dismiss rumors of sea people, ghost submarines, and underwater castles as fabrications by bored individuals or hoaxes concocted for fame or amusement.
They argue that so-called sea people might be marine animals; ghost submarines could be advanced experimental vessels; and underwater castles or pyramids are myths lacking convincing evidence of existence.
Yet many hold the opposite view. They believe ‘The People from the Bottom of the Atlantic’ is not mere science fiction. Various signs indicate that deep in the vast ocean, another mysterious intelligent species—sea people—may exist. Their argument is that humans evolved from oceanic creatures.
Sea people represent a branch of human evolution that, unlike land-dwelling humans, continued evolving beneath the sea, ultimately becoming masters of the ocean. Proponents point to the famous submerged Bimini structures as remnants of sea people architecture. Later, as the seabed rose, these sea dwellers, adapted only to deep-sea life, abandoned their castles. They suggest that large dome-shaped transparent buildings found off Spain and pyramids discovered beneath the Atlantic may be high-tech structures and devices of the sea people.
The pyramids could have functioned as power generators or desalination and purification systems, while radar-like antennas on the buildings might have formed an underwater wireless communication network.
Additionally, some Russian experts studying unidentified objects believe the sea people may be intelligent beings from outer space. If sea people were merely an evolutionary branch of prehistoric humans, their civilization’s technological level would be comparable to humans on land. However, the advanced technology and functions of unidentified submarines emerging from the ocean surpass current human capabilities.
Thus, the technology behind these ‘ghost submarines’ must belong to extraterrestrial intelligent beings. They may have established bases deep in the oceans and frequently traverse the seas.
Whether sea people truly exist and where they come from remains unresolved today, but it is certain that one day this mystery will be unveiled. This will depend on the efforts of young, vibrant individuals like you."
"Could this mission also be related to aliens? If so, wouldn’t such a marvelous energy source as the magnetic europium stone have already been taken by the sea people?" Yun Meng voiced her doubts after reading the data.
Hua Feng nodded. "Perhaps the Atlanteans kept reserves of magnetic europium stones. If we can find surviving ones, many problems will be solved."
Hearing Hua Feng’s cautiously optimistic but uncertain tone, Yun Meng, Bai Feng, Li Long, Shuang Ning, Wang Yue, and Lin Chong on shore all sensed this mission might be as difficult as searching for a needle in a haystack.
As they pondered their next move, Hua Feng suddenly noticed several humanoid figures rapidly approaching the underwater plaza beneath this sea region within the submarine’s radar detection range, swept by a strong deep-sea current.
