Volume One, Chapter 27: The Choice of Assistant
Joyce’s body spun a full circle in the air before crashing to the ground, involuntarily spitting out a mouthful of blood, within which a few teeth were mixed. Lin Yi had used all his strength in that kick, leaving not a trace of mercy. She looked at Xu Muyun, but Xu Muyun was gazing deeper into the building. Mi Chuyan’s thoughts were in disarray, and following his line of sight, she saw Ning Chengsen standing at the curve of the staircase, his dark eyes and upright silhouette appearing as if he had materialized there out of nowhere.
I’ve been kidnapped—there’s no way anyone knows about it, otherwise things wouldn’t be unfolding like this.
The white, gauzy, transparent robe lent an aura of holy ethereal purity, cold as ice, and the imposing aura emanating from her made her nearly unapproachable to ordinary people.
Though this person’s strength was average, his character was outstanding. He fervently supported the tyrant, and learning under his guidance was undoubtedly the best choice.
Tang Xie was speechless. Hadn’t he just expressed his refusal? Yet the angel seemed ready to begin as if nothing had happened.
“So when did you come out?” Ma Daocheng had genuinely started to care about the fate of this second master.
“But—the fifty million from the Niu family hasn’t been transferred to you yet!” Ma Daocheng immediately raised this objection.
The young man who launched the attack was clad in dazzling gold, his gaze fierce and bright, standing there like a god of war, unassailable.
Tang Xie’s aura grew colder and more oppressive, the vast, unfinished building seeming to close in, the atmosphere heavy and suffocating.
As he spoke, Xia Cheng finished the tea in his cup. At his cultivation level, even copious amounts of rare treasures would barely have any immediate effect, but this iced tea was different—he would not let it go to waste.
And with the regiment leader’s arrest, Liu Hao’s phone soon rang as well. When he checked, it was a video call from his second sister.
“This battalion—whether it becomes the Tiger Army, I don’t really care. I admire the soldiers who pass through our village every few days, bringing live pigs. The soldiers say every meal comes with meat for those in the battalion. It makes me want to enlist myself,” another man said with a grin.
From then on, the Ghost Sect dared not casually refine the corpses of martial artists, much less those of Imperial Sovereign cultivators. Now, Meng Kang even intends to refine the bodies of powerful Imperial Sovereigns from major forces—if things go wrong, it could spell disaster for the sect.
Xiao Shengge knew that Yilan must have told Xu Shutao everything. Xu Shutao was clever and wouldn’t invite her up to the fourth floor as before. Whatever Xu Shutao did now must have a reason.
Within the marrow, divine radiance flickered, brimming with vitality. His bone marrow, if given in a drop to another, was no less miraculous than a spring bursting forth from the earth.
“It’s alright. I called just to tell you not to worry. My mother and I are out shopping. We just walked past a White Palace club and happened to see your car. I wanted to ask if you were inside,” An Ran replied.
The senior sister, seeing Liu Hao suddenly fall silent, couldn’t help but gaze at him with deep admiration as she spoke.
The three men didn’t respond. Fan Wu untied Bai Na, who first handed him the Ghost Axe, then produced a giant ghost-headed blade and decapitated Zhang Xin in a single strike, before silently carrying the blade into the cave.
But it was too soon to rejoice. Spiritual energy wasn’t inexhaustible; it could only be preserved in certain environments.
Li Shimin merely smiled as he regarded Li Haotian, neither letting him rise nor saying anything else.
Gu Xiaoyue’s consciousness began to blur again. Breathing in the masculine scent, her soft lips pressed against his, yearning to swallow him whole.
Seeing her silent, Yan Ruiyang paid no mind, only signaling with his eyes to a man beside him, who immediately understood. He strode over to the still dazed Jimmy, who was being helped along by two other men.
Mu Zhi Ling glanced complexly at his foot, paused briefly, then turned and walked out.
For some reason, scenes with Gu Xiaoyue kept replaying in his mind, especially her dejected look when she returned home.
Jun Mosheng stared ahead, his expression cold, one hand in his pocket, listening as Cheng Feng described the situation for tonight.
Qin Sheng scratched his head in confusion, silently glancing at Nan Xu: What does Brother Chen mean by this?
“We’re still investigating the cause of his illness. We haven’t figured out how to treat it yet. What if something goes wrong with random treatments?”
“Qin Mu Yan, let’s leave. It’s too dangerous here. If we move farther away, perhaps no one will notice us,” Yang Lan’er meant for everyone to act with full force and clear a path immediately.
Now the divine rune had triggered a reaction from the Reverse Ring. Who knows what mysterious phenomena might occur?
More astonishing still, wherever her gaze landed, the flowers would lean away from her, as if, were they not rooted, they’d flee outright.
He leapt from his seat and ran desperately, but still couldn’t catch up. Fortunately, the bullet hadn’t been meant to take Ning Xingyue’s life, or else Chen Xuan would have regretted it forever.
