Volume One, Chapter Ninety-One: Striking the Elite
The young man looked at Chu Ming coldly, grinding his teeth as he said, “So we meet again.”
At first, he had hesitated over whether to accept Martial Shock Sky. After all, many had died at the hands of the three great empires, and he feared the others might resist.
“Because His Majesty Ikken’s words left you in doubt, you passed that concern on to your elder brother, Prince Somans?” Lu Xi asked.
Although Chen Xi had been eager for Wang Ze to offer more suggestions, once the development entered its deeper stages, someone of Wang Ze’s limited skill had little left to contribute. He merely reminded Chen Xi not to overlook the influence of the local native tribes.
Mudan wore a long crimson gown that fell to her ankles, but with one leg crossed over the other, the gown split open along a seam, revealing her slender figure all the way up to the inner thigh. She rested one hand against her cheek and held half a glass of red wine in the other. In the bright red goblet, her distinctive, mature features seemed to glow.
A vast pillar of water surged skyward, rising dozens of yards before bursting into a storm of ice rain. The force of it made Venerable Master Cang Yun’s eyelid twitch, and he could not help regretting that he had not taken the chance to sabotage the Blue-Eyed Berserk Blade while he had been out of his mind.
“Come and have some fruit,” said Narcissus, setting the elegant platter on the coffee table. Her almond-shaped brows were tinged with shyness, her face flushed with springlike warmth.
The Old Goat was sending signals, while Zhao An watched the two men who had fallen from the bridge. His face had gone pale. The spear before him was so sharp; if not for the Old Goat saving him first, and if no one had shot arrows to help him deal with the enemy, then given his disadvantageous position on the bridge, he would surely have been wounded, and very possibly lost his life.
The third type was plant-based mutants. These monsters were even more troublesome, because once plants mutated, they were often even harder to deal with than animal mutants. Growing in every corner, they could kill you before you noticed a thing. That would truly be a cruel way to die.
The one beside him, Charlie K, was far more ordinary. Since entering the private room, he had not said a word to anyone, nor looked at anyone. He simply kept lighting the powder on the foil over the coffee table, then inhaling it through his hooked nose.
At once, the crowd boiled over. The reporters seized on the huge story and flocked around Jing Yuqing and the man, snapping photos.
“Heh. And you, then? Mister Nie?” There was a trace of provocation in Young Master Zhang’s gaze as it turned to me.
“I had no idea that I was being used,” Ling Lin said, and a flash of remorse crossed her eyes.
Yet Wu Xie had not noticed at all. Once he entered that train of thought, he became focused and intent, paying no heed to the world outside. It was all thanks to the Divine Farmer’s Canon; the more he practiced, the more he felt that he could devote himself fully to a single task without his mind scattering.
“I’m really not angry anymore!” Yue Mengxin looked at Cang Ziyun and gave him a radiant smile.
In the darkness, Yue Mengxin guessed that Shadow wanted to speak on the prince’s behalf, but she could only offer a faint, bitter smile.
“Two billion means nothing. As long as you are willing to come, if things are done well, even twenty billion won’t be a problem,” Wu Xie said directly.
Inside the room, after hearing the conversation outside, Yu Shiyi’s lips curled slightly. He wore a relaxed expression, as though everything were already under his control.
“Orlando Magic, perhaps! Because that was where my dream began. I feel that place is the closest thing to home. And by then, we’ll have a great team, a team full of people fighting for the championship,” O’Neal answered without much thought.
