Volume One, Chapter 33: The Bar Confrontation
After learning that Huangfu Minghang had already reserved a private room, Duan Wuhen prepared to head to the Jinghai Bar. Upon reaching the door, he instinctively reached into his pockets, only to freeze, his expression darkening. Both pockets were completely empty—not even a single coin remained. This predicament brought his journey to the bar to a sudden halt. Walking there? That simply did not fit Duan Wuhen’s style. He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Yan Xiyue’s number. Once connected, he immediately adopted a fawning tone: "Hey, my dear Xiyue, where are you?" Yan Xiyue’s cheerful voice came from the other end: "I’m out shopping with Sister Qingcheng. What’s up..."
The young master found the receipt and handed it to the police chief, hoping to check if the whereabouts of the diamond ring could be traced through the Sephiroth chain stores.
"Deputy Captain Yang, look, what is that?" Ma Biao shouted in surprise, pointing to something swimming in the river about ten meters away.
Seeing the expression on his opponent's face, Black Wolf realized something was wrong. He wanted to brake, but how could Long Jianfei let such an opportunity slip? His leap just now had been intended to assist his rival.
After Qin Mo drove her to the company entrance, she did not immediately step out. Just as she was about to bring up the matter, he suddenly took her hand.
"Then we sisters will be in danger tonight," Naya teased when no outsiders were around.
Zhongli Youyou gritted her teeth in anger. The better-looking a man was, the more glib his tongue; this man was abandoning a lady right now—he was truly cold-hearted.
"He happens to be on leave these few days, so we can all go and have fun for a while. His younger sister is very cute, you’ll like her," Xu Chen said, trying to curry favor.
The Demon Lord lunged forward, pressing a palm lightly against Yun Ming’s chest. With a muffled thud, Yun Ming’s body shuddered, his face turned pale, and he was sent flying backward. He crashed through three mountain peaks with successive loud bangs, spat out a mouthful of blood, and only managed to steady himself by gripping a fourth peak with his left hand.
Ju Shangmu looked up and sighed, then fixed his gaze on Jin Tang. The emotions that had been visible in his handsome eyes just moments ago vanished, leaving them like deep, unfathomable pools of water.
Du Hui kept retreating, his body trembling violently. He couldn't help but look at Li Zhichen beneath the thunderclouds; he himself would be in mortal danger in such a tribulation. Furthermore, he had committed his fair share of slaughter, and he now regretted letting Li Zhichen go more than ever.
Times had changed. Li Xilie was long dead, and Du Huangshang had become the presiding chancellor; it was time to settle old scores.
"Uncle Zilian! This..." Cao Ang, standing nearby, could not help but show a look of compassion. He stepped forward and called out to Cao Hong, clearly wishing to plead for mercy for this man, A-Jin.
The soldier, shoved by the lieutenant, let out an exaggerated cry of pain. Losing his footing, he stumbled, but instead of falling away, he tumbled right into the lieutenant’s arms.
Gu Feng and Ye Wuqing were both astonished. The Purple Soul Sect and the Ye family were two of the three great powers of the Biji Immortal Realm. A sovereign-level powerhouse from the Purple Soul Sect was undoubtedly a top-tier figure—how could he have died here?
Hiding for over eighty years without being discovered, moving daily among the great masters of the Taiqing Sect, Su Changfeng could truly be considered a super-agent.
Fortunately, his own Admiral Duoduo and her colleagues were women of integrity. Although they remained innocent and pure, Chiyou believed he could help them all become powerhouses in their respective fields.
At that moment, Wuming’s brow furrowed, as news from Qiankun Jin arrived via the messenger device.
Blocked from view by Lu Bu, Li Ru had no choice but to give up. He looked toward Lu Bu, his previous panic gone, staring at him with his usual indifference. Li Ru and Lu Bu were on decent terms, but Lu Bu looked at everyone with that same coldness; it wasn't a personal slight against Li Ru.
"Not much of a deal? As long as you stand still and each take one strike from me without dying, I will honor our past friendship and let you leave!" Ruan Jin sneered.
A chaotic struggle had broken out in the heart of the He-Luo lands, though it never escalated into full-scale war. For the Nine Clans, this was naturally a miscalculation, but there were gains and losses; their ally, the Kyrgyz, had won consecutive victories on the desert steppes and had miraculously closed in on the Uyghur royal city.
Yun Changfeng looked toward Qi Hao with a haughty expression, looking as if he were certain of victory.
The Emperor stood there alone, a triumphant smile on his lips. He had hand-picked these ten men in black, and Rong Jing was sure to die.
Staring in that direction for a few moments, Sun Qingyi withdrew her gaze. Although she had the original owner’s memories, there were still many things here she did not understand.
Wen Ruodong parked the car in the nearby supermarket lot. When An Qi stepped out with him, she found everything before her strangely familiar.
Meanwhile, Xuanyuan Shuang'er manipulated the Star-Chasing Disk. After it enveloped the Fiery Demon Beasts, it took only a short time before they were reduced to a pile of withered bones.
"Go if you must. I wouldn't ask you to look for it if it weren't necessary," Xiao Zirang said, walking over to sit at the stone table.
Sister Qiu's words were sharp, but for Salina, they seemed entirely irrelevant. Salina merely shrugged, completely unbothered.
Facing Liu Huamao’s attack, Qi Hao stood as still as a rock. Instead of defending, he stood with his hands behind his back.
Without answering Yu Xizhou, Shen Nanfeng walked to a table in the kitchen, looked at the food, sat down, and picked up his chopsticks to eat.
Seeing this, Wukong felt a complex emotion stir within him. Years ago, because of the incident with Zhenyuanzi, he had wanted to visit Su Zi, only to be blocked at the Southern Heaven Gate. Now, he finally had the qualification to officially step through those gates, welcomed by gods and immortals.
Combining what Wu Chuzhi and Ma of Pengcheng had said, she keenly realized that there was still room for change.
Yet under that whirlwind, the flames flickered, but they could not scorch Qin Mu in the slightest.
However, Wu Chuzhi's next reaction left Liu Mengmeng bewildered: he took his down jacket and draped it directly over both their laps.
"These are supplements I brought with your mother. I’ll bring more once your postpartum recovery period is over," he said, looking at the items beside him.
Even though Yu Xingran’s aura was still far from matching that man’s, she had begun to show a hint of it, a transformation that caused everyone present to cast sidelong glances.
Of course, this feeling of happiness certainly didn't count as love; at most, it was the comfort of being with like-minded people. At least, that was what she thought.
This remark made Ye Muxi laugh. She nodded and handed the menu to the waiter.
Kong Tong Yijie and Xue Yinghuachen said nothing, but the look in the couple’s eyes conveyed something beyond mere despair and shock.
Recalling Shi Xue’s behavior at the hospital today, Ye Muxi sneered with disdain. Some people simply couldn't keep their true selves hidden forever.
