The murmured whispers of the crowd did not escape Yuan Qian’er and Mo Yiran’s ears. The more Mo Yiran heard, the grimmer his expression became. He was about to order the crowd to disperse to prevent Qian’er from getting upset—after all, no girl wants to be called a seductress. But unexpectedly, Yuan Qian’er was a step quicker.
“Oh my, Little White, look! So many of your kind up ahead. Why don’t you go introduce yourself? Maybe you’ll find a sister you’ve been separated from for years!” Yuan Qian’er patted the little white creature in her arms and spoke deliberately loud. This was turning their own words against them—if they called her a fox spirit, she would let them play the fox for a moment.
Perhaps Little White disliked their jealous and slanderous attitudes as much as she did, for it cooperated perfectly, softly saying to the girls insulting Yuan Qian’er, “Sister, sister.”
“Hahaha, Little White, well done! See who the real fox spirit is? Even the animals acknowledge it—she’s a true warrior among fox spirits. Impressive, impressive!”
“Pfft!” “Haha!” “A warrior fox spirit, hahaha!” The onlookers stifled their laughter at this remark.
Then, a foolish girl stepped forward and shouted at Yuan Qian’er, “You fox spirit, who are you cursing!”
“Well, whoever deserves it!” Yuan Qian’er replied nonchalantly, stroking Little White’s silky fur in high spirits. The saying “the bird that sticks its head out gets shot” must always be remembered!

“You…” The foolish girl’s face turned green with anger, but she restrained herself, needing to maintain her composure in front of Lord Mo. Hmpf, she turned and stomped away in a huff.
“Ha, I didn’t name anyone in particular; if you bark wildly, that’s your own fault. Serves you right! Mo Yiran, let’s go. I’m magnanimous today and won’t bother with petty people. Ah, being pretty has its downsides—just look at how mad the jealous ones have gone. Such a faint sadness,” Yuan Qian’er sighed, her face tilted forty-five degrees toward the sky.
A weak voice muttered: “Don’t show off, or you’ll get struck by lightning!”
“Today, Qian’er is generous and won’t argue with you. You all can disperse now. From today on, Yuan Qian’er is a distinguished guest of the Mo Manor, the most honored visitor in all of Bing Mo. Anyone who dares to slander her will bear the consequences.” Seeing that Yuan Qian’er was not only unbothered but had fought back so well, Mo Yiran decided not to press the matter further. After warning them, he led Yuan Qian’er into the manor.
The crowd, seeing the two walk away, sighed in relief and wiped sweat from their brows. Luckily, Lord Mo didn’t get angry; otherwise, we’d all be in trouble! This girl must have significant backing to receive such protection from Lord Mo. Didn’t you hear? Those who slander will die!
“Alright, let’s go. Nothing left to see here. Keep watching and you might lose your lives!”
“Let’s go, let’s go.” The once lively gates of Mo Manor quickly emptied, leaving only a few passersby.

Inside the manor, Mo Yiran led Yuan Qian’er into the main hall and asked, “Qian’er, are you really not angry?”
Yuan Qian’er looked puzzled. “Angry? Why would I be? Oh, you mean those people gossiping about me just now? It’s nothing. I have a strong tolerance; hardly anything can bring me down. Besides, I didn’t seduce you, so if I conduct myself properly, I’m not afraid of what others say. Don’t worry, it’s no big deal!”
Of course you have a strong tolerance—just look at how shameless you are!
“Haha, I’m glad you think that way. I was worried you’d be upset. Most people would be angry being talked about like that,” Mo Yiran said admiringly, growing fonder of her by the moment.
“That’s most people. I’m not most people—I’m a woman of the new era. I won’t waste time on petty jealousy and bitterness,” Yuan Qian’er said proudly of her modern mindset. Then she asked, “Hey, why aren’t there many people in your manor? Just a few maids, servants, and secret guards. Where’s your family?”
