“Ninth-generation Master of the Boundless Demon Palace? Are you talking about me?” Ye Yun’s face was filled with astonishment.

“That’s right, I mean you. There is no one in this world more suited than you to become the next master of the palace,” the Boundless Demon Lord replied with a smile. Perhaps his excitement was too great, for his body rippled like water—after all, he was but the remnant of a soul, not a being of flesh and blood.

“And who are you?” Ye Yun looked at the blue-robed man before him, who called himself the Boundless Demon Lord.

“I am, of course, the eighth-generation master of the Boundless Demon Palace!” The Boundless Demon Lord declared proudly.

“I have no desire to become the ninth-generation master of your palace. I already have a master,” Ye Yun shook his head without hesitation, unmoved by the other’s words.

Once a teacher, always a father—such was his belief. In his heart, he had only one master: Ye Yu, the founding ancestor of the Ye clan.

“You refuse? You country bumpkin! Do you even realize, in this vast world of countless powers, how many cultivators would kill for the chance to inherit the Boundless Demon Palace? And you turn it down!?” The Boundless Demon Lord stared in disbelief, his eyes wide.

Despite Ye Yun’s refusal, the Boundless Demon Lord had no intention of giving up. Geniuses were not hard to find, but one who coincidentally cultivated the Scarlet Flame Chapter of the Heaven and Earth Demon Art was truly unique!

The Heaven and Earth Demon Art had been lost since the third generation master. The succeeding masters had searched tirelessly for the missing arts, especially the introductory Scarlet Flame Chapter. Without it, even gathering every other aspect of the cultivation method would not allow one to complete it.

And as it had been lost for so long, from the fourth to the eighth generation, none of the masters had any clear record of the Scarlet Flame Chapter, nor did they know it required an innately perfect divine soul to master.

The Boundless Demon Lord smiled, his gaze upon Ye Yun reminiscent of a wolf eyeing a rabbit. “Becoming the ninth-generation master—what glory! And you don’t even have to formally acknowledge me as your teacher; you’d become the master directly.”

“I can teach you how to refine the Boundless Divine Eye and guide your cultivation. Though I have little material to offer as the eighth master, I possess tens of thousands of years of experience. That alone can spare you countless detours on your path ahead!”

To persuade Ye Yun, the Demon Lord was pulling out all the stops, offering every conceivable advantage.

“Is this Boundless Divine Eye truly such a treasure?” Ye Yun asked after considering for a moment.

“A treasure? It’s more than that! It is one of the two greatest treasures of the Boundless Demon Palace. Search the worlds high and low, and you will not find another like it!” Seeing Ye Yun’s interest, the Boundless Demon Lord clapped his hands in joy.

“Do you remember when you fought that black monkey? Why did your movement techniques have no effect on it?” the Boundless Demon Lord asked.

“Was it because of the Boundless Divine Eye?” Ye Yun’s eyes brightened.

“That is merely the most basic effect of the Divine Eye,” the Boundless Demon Lord said with a dismissive wave. “Its origins are extraordinary. According to the records of our palace, the Divine Eye was born of heaven and earth, nurtured in the primordial chaos, and possesses great powers—it can perceive the very essence of all things.”

“With the initial refinement of the Divine Eye, one can see through all changes in techniques. That’s why you were at a disadvantage against the black monkey, though even it had not managed to refine the eye at all.”

“What happens if I manage the initial refinement?” Ye Yun pressed.

The Boundless Demon Lord was delighted—he could see Ye Yun’s curiosity, and he was confident that the allure of the Divine Eye would draw this rustic youth into inheriting the palace.

“At your current level—merely at the peak of Qi Refinement—you cannot refine the Divine Eye. Like the black monkey, you can only use its most rudimentary abilities,” the Demon Lord said, deliberately mysterious.

“So what level of cultivation is required for initial refinement?” Ye Yun asked.

“That, I’ll only tell you once you agree to become the ninth-generation heir,” the Demon Lord finally revealed his true intentions.

“As long as I don’t have to acknowledge you as my teacher, I can agree to be the ninth-generation heir. But I promise nothing more,” Ye Yun replied after some thought, realizing there was no harm, only benefits, in accepting.

“Heh, I have no further demands for you. The tenet of our Boundless Demon Palace is freedom—we are bound by nothing. You may do as you please in the future,” the Boundless Demon Lord said with a smile.

“So, can you tell me now?” Ye Yun rolled his eyes.

“Naturally. As the next heir, I, the previous master, am duty-bound to tell you these things.”

With a solemn expression, the Boundless Demon Lord cleared his throat and said, “Once your cultivation reaches the Nascent Soul stage, you can begin refining the Divine Eye. Then you will discover its many wonders.”

“What? Just beginning at Nascent Soul? What about full refinement—what level does that require?” Ye Yun was shocked.

“Heh, now you see its power, eh? To fully refine it, you would need to reach immortality,” the Demon Lord replied.

“What do you mean, ‘about’?” Ye Yun was speechless.

“Because none of the previous inheritors ever reached the True Immortal realm, nor fully refined the Divine Eye. I can only speculate that once you become immortal, you might succeed,” the Boundless Demon Lord explained.

“And stop calling me ‘boy’ or ‘country bumpkin’. I have a name—Ye Yun!” Ye Yun said sternly.

“Fine, I’ll call you ‘Little Ye Yun’ from now on. How’s that?” The Boundless Demon Lord chuckled. “From now on, this remnant of my soul and the Divine Eye will merge into your eyes. When you wish to activate its power, simply use this incantation.”

As he spoke, the Boundless Demon Lord pointed a finger, and a beam of light shot into Ye Yun’s forehead. An incantation appeared in Ye Yun’s mind, simple and clear.

“Cultivate well in the Scarlet Flame Chapter. The first three masters of the palace dominated the world with this supreme demonic art. After it was lost, our successors have indeed been extraordinary, but never unrivaled. You must not dishonor this supreme art,” the Demon Lord said with gravity.

“Don’t worry, you needn’t concern yourself with that,” Ye Yun replied irritably.

The Demon Lord paid it no mind and continued, “Though I possess many other marvelous secret arts, your cultivation is too low to practice them. But the totem method you use is quite impressive…”

Suddenly, the Demon Lord paused in thought, and then said, “I almost forgot. Though the Scarlet Flame Chapter was lost, some secret arts compatible with it were passed down by previous masters. Let me give them to you.”

With another gesture, he transmitted the secret arts from the Scarlet Flame Chapter directly to Ye Yun.

This moved Ye Yun deeply. His master, Ye Yu, had only acquired the incantation of the Scarlet Flame Chapter in the ancient secret realm, not the secret techniques themselves. Now, with these new methods, Ye Yun would no longer be so limited in battle.

After two exhausting days of moving, I can finally get online again. Seeing the tip from Housebound Brother, I’m deeply moved. Though we often joke and banter in the group, I’m truly touched. I’ve written many books, and most readers have come and gone, but Housebound, Bleeding Tears, Guardian, Heartless, and a few others have always supported me. I’m not good with flowery words, but I will always remember your support!
