Chapter 114: The Dazzling Blade
Pressing his foot down on the broken leg of the last man, a piercing scream of agony erupted from him.
Su Bai’s voice was icy as he asked, “Who sent you?”
Though the searing pain was almost unbearable, the leader stood firm and declared, “If you have the guts to kill, then kill us all!”
“From the moment we joined this organization, we’ve put life and death aside. If you want to get anything out of us, ha…”
Just as Su Bai was about to take further action, a sudden voice came from behind.
“Stop! If you don’t stop, I’ll kill her!”
One foot pressed down on the leader’s only remaining intact hand. Slowly turning his head, Su Bai saw that the one who had initially passed out had somehow gained control over Yang Xiaomi.
With his uninjured hand trembling, he held a dagger to Yang Xiaomi’s neck.
“What do you want?”
Turning, Su Bai forcefully stepped down on the hand beneath him.
A dreadful scream echoed out: “Ah~~~”
Then, step by step, he advanced toward the blond-haired man who was holding Yang Xiaomi hostage.
The blond-haired man, furious that his captive was being attacked despite his knife, roared wildly, “I told you to stop! Didn’t you hear me?”
“Stop! Stop right now, or I’ll slit her throat with this dagger!”
As the blond man lunged forward again with the dagger, Su Bai instantly halted his foot.
He raised both hands high.
“Don’t be rash. I’m doing exactly what you said!”
“I’m not moving. Don’t get agitated!”
“Then tell me—what do you want me to do?”
The blond man screamed in madness, “You broke my hand. I want you to pay double—cut off both your hands!”
Su Bai’s heart chilled at those words, searching his mind for a way to save Yang Xiaomi.
It was clear the blond man was on the verge of a breakdown.
If his emotions spiraled out of control, tragedy was inevitable.
Seeing Su Bai bend down to pick up the dagger on the ground, the blond man shouted frantically, “What are you doing? I told you not to move. Didn’t you hear me?”
Su Bai immediately stopped.
His eyes locked on the blond man’s, he said, “I’m doing what you asked. Don’t get worked up!”
“If I’m not holding a knife, how can I cut off my hands?”
The blond man gripped the dagger tightly, shouting wildly, “Hurry! Cut off your hands!”
“Three seconds. If you don’t act within three seconds, I’ll kill her!”
Yang Xiaomi was frozen in terror but instinctively shook her head, signaling Su Bai not to do it.
She tried to speak but the overwhelming emotion stifled her voice.
“Three… two…”
“Don’t be rash!” Su Bai said, picking up the dagger and slicing his own arm!
---
Blood gushed out immediately!
“Hahaha… hahahaha…”
The blond man roared madly.
“No… don’t…”
Yang Xiaomi’s voice was hoarse, barely managing the words.
Seeing the blood pouring from Su Bai’s arm, tears welled in her eyes.
“Why are you so foolish… why…”
Her voice cracked with emotion.
The blond man yelled furiously, “Woman, shut up!”
“Now, the right hand! Cut off the right hand too!”
Su Bai looked at the blond man calmly.
Despite the blood streaming from his left arm, he did not flinch.
With his right hand, he tightly grasped the dagger lodged in his left arm, then pulled it out forcefully.
At the very moment the blade was withdrawn, Su Bai locked eyes with the blond man, silently shouting “Lock on,” “Track.”
A single drop of blood shot out from the dagger.
Before the blond man could react, the blood splattered into his eyes.
Instinctively, he rubbed his eyes with the hand holding the dagger.
The instant the dagger left Yang Xiaomi’s neck, it flew like an arrow, propelled by Su Bai’s blood directly at the blond man.
“Ah~”
The dagger pierced the blond man’s hand and his left eye simultaneously!
The strike was lightning fast.
Too swift for anyone to notice what had just happened.
All transpired in a flash like electricity.
By the time everyone registered the scene, it was already decided.
As Yang Xiaomi instinctively turned to see what had occurred, Su Bai quickly pulled her close and held her tight.
Gently, he said, “Don’t look.”
Yang Xiaomi’s body trembled uncontrollably.
She was utterly drained of strength.
Su Bai carried her to the car, softly patting her back.
Glancing at the time on the dashboard, he thought, It’s been a while. Brother Lei should be here soon.
---
When Su Bai realized they were being followed, he immediately called the police.
Of course, he called Liu Lei.
He also knew that police response would take time.
In the short term, they had to rely on themselves.
After a while, Yang Xiaomi stopped crying.
She looked up at Su Bai and said, “Su Bai, your hand…”
Su Bai gently shook his head, signaling it was nothing.
Soon, the police car arrived.
Liu Lei rushed to Su Bai’s side.
Seeing the bloodied left arm, he asked worriedly, “You’re hurt?”
Su Bai shook his head, indicating he was fine.
“Brother Lei, they should be from overseas.”
“If you find out anything about their identities, let me know immediately!”
Liu Lei nodded. “You both go to the hospital first. Leave this to me. After you’re treated, come to the station to give your statements.”
On the way back, Yang Xiaomi seemed to calm down slightly from the earlier terror.
“Su Bai, I’m sorry.”
Her voice still trembled with tears.
Though Yang Xiaomi had seen many grand spectacles, this was her first time witnessing life-or-death struggle firsthand.
Before, it had only been in dramas.
Back then, she hadn’t truly felt it.
Now, having experienced it herself, she truly understood despair.
She understood terror.
She understood survival against all odds.
Su Bai’s image in her heart was towering and magnificent.
Thinking of how Su Bai had unhesitatingly stabbed himself for her, Yang Xiaomi was deeply moved.
In all her life, she had met many kinds of men.
There were those more handsome than Su Bai.
There were those who whispered sweet words.
There were gentle and considerate ones.
There were domineering CEOs.
But never before had she encountered a man like Su Bai—so manly, so resolute, willing to stab himself without hesitation for her.
A warm current surged through her heart.
Su Bai said apologetically, “If anyone should say sorry, it’s me.”
“If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have faced this danger.”
“You wouldn’t have been put at risk.”
